Research at UPenn

I'm a recently accepted student at UPenn and am currently trying to decide between UChicago and Penn. I plan on majoring in Chemistry. I have been digging around both websites and I have a few questions for any current students at UPenn, preferably chem majors. How easy is it to do research as an undergraduate? Are the spots competitive or are they open to everyone?

I also read somewhere that there is an honors program at Penn, could someone please explain it to me?

I am not a Chem major, but one of my good friends was. You have extensive opportunities to do original research as an undergraduate; if you are so inclined, you can also submatriculate into the master’s program. If you plan out your courses properly, you can easily complete a master’s degree along with your BA in four years.
