I’m a current sophomore and I’m really interested in working in a science research program over the summer (like NIH or WRAIR internship). However, i have no research experience and no clue how to get any research experience except through these programs, which seem hard to get accepted into without any research experience…see my dilemna? I’ve heard that you should contact researchers at a local university (I live near Northwestern and University of Chicago) and ask them for opportunites…but do u think they’d mentor someone with no previous research experience? I was j/w how you any of you guys got started in research or if you knew about any summer research programs that I could possibly be accepted into w/ no previous research experience (besides three years of honors science). Thanx for any help!

bump...please any help??

just e-mail the researchers, and ask if you could be a lab aide, or at least shadow or something (start small) and then as u get used to it, u'll get more freedom. just apply and e-mail. u've got nothing to lose doing that, do u?
