Research for pre-freshman at Berkeley?

What opportunities are there for a Berkeley student to enroll in the fall for research? I looked everywhere on the web but only found REU (for sophomores wth), some random programs that i missed the deadline, and BASE (dont qualify).

What other programs are there that I can do in Berkeley? I'm going to be taking summer school there, but want to do some research on the side to pad my resume and hopefully compensate for the class cost.

Thanksssss in advance !

URAP

Go to URAP.berkeley.edu

New project come up at the beginning of each semester, and then you apply for them.

^ This would be good for next year, but the applications are closed.

Umm I guess it doesn’t necessarily have to be at berkeley, maybe surrounding areas etc…

At this point I’m desperate and need a job or something or else I’m not going to be able to do summer classes (aghhhhh)

you apply for fall semester work during fall semester. The application is due about the second week of the semester.

You didn’t say what sort of research you’re interested in, but you might want to look at Lawrence Berkeley Labs. They employ quite a few UC Berkeley undergrads as interns, I think.

OH sorry hahaha

I’m majoring in engineering so preferably something science-related.

That would be awesome to work at Lawrence, but do you think they hire freshman? It seems unlikely to me…

My daughter worked there her senior year of high school, though she’d done an internship with them first, the summer before. There were Cal students there both times, during the summer and during the school year. The best way in is to do one of their summer internships, but there may be other ways. This program offers internships in the Spring, too:

Good luck!
