<p>I found and purchased an interesting book on Ebay "Manual of Athletic Requirements US Naval Academy ~ 1933" </p>

<p>On the Inside there is a photo( glued into the inside cover) of a William L. Thompson class of 1939 in two poses.
One is from the front and one is from the rear.
I believe it is to show fitness overall and Mr. Thompson is in front of a grid delineated I think for symetry of form. Mr. Thompson is naked except for an athletic supporter. His height, weight, class, and age in years and months are in the photo as they were written on a chalk board for the photo. </p>

<p>Inside the rear cover is a grid with swim test, cross chest, resucitation and others and stamped dates and signatures of I assume instructers. </p>

<p>The body of the work outlines how to play all the sports that were available in 1933 with photos and charts and graphs including plays that were to be used in football and soccer and others. The coolest one is a chapter named "Rough and Tumble" which is a early self defense primer. Even an early version of th PRT table.</p>

<p>The photos (hundreds) are a priceless snapshot of the times and the personal stuff written by Mr. Thompson lets a person feel the past.</p>

<p>If Anyone knows how I find out if Mr. Thompson is still alive and or his descendants. I am sure they would like to see it. I would make some copies of the photos. </p>

<p>^^^ would suspect he would be in his mid-80's by now!</p>

<p>^^^^^^^^If he entered the Academy in the summer of 1935 at the age of 13, yes, he would be 85.</p>

<p>WOW ! After 43 sttraight loses "we" beat ND ! ... in TRIPLE OVERTIME ! ... AT ND !! ... and "Touchdown Jesus" was absolutely NO HELP !!!! I don't care if ND was 1-7 going in or not ... we were outweighed by 40#s per man and still we found a way. ND got it's usual home call on the pass interference call in the 3rd OT, giving them a second shot at the 2-point conversion and PAUL JOHNSON outcoaching Charlie Weis all day, said "SEND IT" and "WE" STUFFED 'EM !!!!!</p>

<p>Then NAVY turns around, after the pandemonium of THE WIN and bruhaha of the following week and goes to N. Texas, give them an early 21-3 lead and comes up with their 6th, bowl-clinching, victory 74-62 !!!!!! </p>

<p>GO NAVY ! BEAT ARMY !! ... but first BEAT N.Illinois !</p>

<p>Methinks the members area of the Alumni Association site, where else ? ... (;o}) ... that's where I'd go ! On another part of the original post ... the picture is what used to be called a "posture pic" which was taken individually of all entering plebes on induction day and used to show basic info height, weight, general build, identify problem areas needing work, etc. These were used at least through the mid 50s.</p>
