I go to a very good and highly ranked public school, but I switched my major from Computer Science (which the school is ranked high in) to Biology my freshman year. The Biology program is not a good program, which is a big engineering school. I was wondering, how will my graduate school chances be affected by taking a major that isn't highly ranked? Will the entire school's reputation for being hard and for being a good school affect it, or should I look into transferring into a better school for Biology?

Also, how do graduate school admissions look upon doing research in areas other than your own? Like I said, Biology is not highly ranked, but I do research in a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering lab. Would that be worth nothing to admissions, since it is not exactly in my field? Should I look for research in Biology? I still have a couple of years before graduating, so I have time to get more experience.

Thank you for the help!
