Research Opportunities

I am a high school Junior looking to do something this summer that will help set my application apart from everyone else's. I know that doing research or internships at a reputable college over the summer would be valuable in applications. I was wondering if anyone knows how or where to find research opportunities at colleges, preferably in Illinois.

Thanks :)

Lol, that’s what they all say. Short of founding your own company/charity (and even that’s becoming more common) or climbing Mount Everest (ditto), have fun trying to do that.

That’s beside the point. If it’s not “valuable” to you, then what’s valuable to adcoms is irrelevant. Also, “reputable” has nothing to do with it. Many major advancements occur at little-known institutions full of people who didn’t care about the place’s reputation.

Erm … contact professors? There’s a handy thread here on how.

The American Cancer Society has some research opportunities in Illinois, but applications were due March 1.
