As a supplement, should I send in my research report or my research abstract? Will Princeton have time look at my paper if I submit it? (eg. Yale reads the research papers but MIT says they may not).
also if my mentor is writing a rec for me, should he/she use the common app teacher rec form ?

thanks!

You should send your abstract, in a paragraph saying what you did, how things turned out and what you plan to do. And no, he/she doesn't have to follow any form.

Matt told me:

"I can tell you that the admissions committee did have a complete application, including your research materials."

G2com: so what does that mean exactly?

When I applied, I sent in just my abstract. I am relatively sure that is what they told me to do.

Oh, and also, I KNOW that they read the research papers. I met the faculty member that read mine.e

@ themoment: thanks for answering my post, but how can the faculty member read your full paper if you only submitted the abstract?

Oh, I am sorry - I meant to say he read my abstract, since that is all I sent. Sorry for the confusion.

@TheMoment...I - Did the faculty member contact you after you were accepted or was it just random?

sleck, is this a research paper you did for school, or on your own?

Both. someone in the physics department called me after I was accepted, and I randomly met with the person that reads the applications and research abstracts.

Secretive CERN stuff? :P Nevermind!

On a more serious note, how was your abstract structured? Did you go into too many details? Or just gave a qualitative touch to your work?

i gave mine as an overview of my topic and what it covers and not too many details, because it is an abstract after all

Mine was an overview, with just maybe a little over half a page of text. Really, not much.

TheMoment...I did you send your abstract with the common app as supplement, or separately to the admissions office?
