Hey so I’m a junior and just starting to think about college applications, and I had a question about how the whole research thing works with elite college apps. I work in a lab and will have been coauthor on a few lab papers by the end of high school, and I’m presenting at a conference on my work on one project and may do this again in the future. I also plan on doing a research program next summer and entering a science fair. The problem is, all of these are somewhat minor in my eyes, and all the information on supplemental research I’ve found in colleges has asked for 1 abstract/rec for 1 “significant” project. Should I be investing all my research time on 1 project? I’m not entirely sure about how this works, and I’d like to know for future reference. Thanks for reading!!

Do what interests you. If it’s one project over a long time fine. If it’s many things do those.
@“Erin’s Dad” thanks, that’s what I had in mind. I suppose not many high schoolers take part in as many projects, so my situation may be different. I’ll keep doing this and figure out apps later.
