Research Science Institute 2005

I'm not cocky to the point of being annoying, its more like self confidence.

well i guess we can't really say anything until the results are in. whoever gets in gets bragging rights.

and personally, i don't care WHAT i eat or WHERE i dorm. i dormed in northwestern for a program and we didn't have AC either. but that was horrible b/c we (i was in 9th grade) were confined to our rooms alot and chicago (or evanston to be precise) was stuffy. but if your dorm neighbor brought a fan (because it didn't fit in MY suitcase) then you're a happy camper.

if i get into RSI, ill live on the street, i dont care, just give me a mentor and a lab and a biology book and im set to go.

did someone say DDR?! hehe

I'm going for 10 out of the 40. That's a good 25%.

What happened with my transcript was, I paid for it to be sent, and the transcript wasn't available to be sent until the 20th. Since my school doesn't give refunds, I might as well send it.

H88, do you run Linux? I've been having a little trouble installing Linux parallel to Windows on one of my PCs, but I know it's possible. Windows is (argh) driving my insane, and in any case, I had been wanting to have a computer that will run LAMP (Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP) to test my server scripting on.

Wow, your school makes you pay for your transcript? That blows man I feel your pain.

we pay a dollar for our transcript so it isn't that bad. but it is inconvenient when i walk over from the other side of the school and realize my pockets are empty and them saying "sorry come again." so when i finally have money, they're closed because i'm lucky like that.

i couldn't send a follow-up transcript because the transcript office place was down for 2 weeks and another week i was in robotics and the rest of the times...(see above incident, happened several times. you think i'd learn but no...)

Yea... I went through a lot of crap to get my transcripts.

(1) Ordered 2 official, 1 unofficial. Officials are $2, unofficial are $1 (Other other official was for Rockefeller, the unofficial was for NASA.) I noticed that on the unofficial transcript they typed under Courses in Progress: "AP Calculus - C" instead of BC, so that it looked like a letter grade. I brought it back, they apologized, and told me to pick it up the next day.

(2) I picked up my transcripts again; this time in Courses in Progress they left out AP Physics entirely. I brought it back, they apologized and told me to pick it up the next day.

(3) I picked up my transcripts again, but after I got home I realized that there was no seal, stamp, or signature on my unofficial. I brought it back, and they said that the unofficial didn't need any of these things. But I told them to open the sealed envelopes anyway just to make sure those were right. The secretary reluctantly opened them, and discovered to our horror that two copies of my test scores had been put into one envelope and two copies of my grades put into the other.

Wow we're not allowed to look at our transcripts.
You applied to Rockefeller even though you live in CA?
Where are you going to live?

wow frozen-tears, you bring value to the cliche "you can never be too sure"

Hey, when are we going to find out if we got into RSI '05?

sorry if this was answered before, but i just showed up here and don't want to wade through all those posts... :)

wow our transcripts are free and the people are always there.
You can open your transcript if you want, but if you do, it's not official anymore.
Thanks for the info on housing/food ^^. I like the idea of 21 windows; I love ventillation... Not that I think I'll get in. I was just wondering.
yeah, it's not good to be cocky. Confidence is entirely different. Cockiness is annoying no matter what.

incognito, we don't really know when we'll find out. In emails received from RSI/CEE people have consistently been told BY the 31st. Basically it could happen anytime in the next week.

yup, they are sticking to the notification time they told us before...

yeah, i think they will be mailed on monday...

Wow reading the horror stories above I feel so lucky. For the transcript, I just go to see my counselor. He will print out two copies, one of which he will stamp for it to be official, the other will just be for me. We can see and get transcripts whenever we want...

yea same here duality.

i had to buy an extra copy of my transcript to see it

I don't think my transcript was "official." ooops. Ah well; my transcript agreed with my rec's and SAT scores, so they prolly gave me the benefit of the doubt. (Or just laughed in the first place, and had no reason to worry about really considering my app.)

Look what someone wrote in the SSP thread:

"damnit..im not looking fwd to picking which camp to go to..if im given the opportunity to do so....cuz seriously..yeh..rsi is "the program you turn down others to go to"...bt..bleh..i got accepted to ssp LAST yr...so i guess i have some sort of committment to them...and since mr. bowdon has known me for the past yr already....ahh..i duno.

mayb i'll be the only rsi acceptee to turn it down...hahaha...wouldnt that be weird...."
