Research Science Institute 2005

rejected... but was expecting it.

....WOW. I got in. And I'm not even really a junior, and I don't have real research experience... just... wow. My app said... I did freshman year okay... is in shock

oh well, rsi isnt that great...a friend explained sisi chen's project to me, and we got the results in 1 hr working together. on the other hand, po-ling loh's and abhi gulati's projects were commendable.

flierdeke...where are you from?

So I grabbed the letter, but I haven't opened it yet. I think I might wait for the USAMO qualifier list to go online and then open the letter. In any acse, since tsr got in, and he was one space on the roster above me, I should have a lower chance of getting in. Or maybe not...?

fred, you must be kidding me. i honestly believe that you're nuts :p

and doesn't the list go up in April?

tetrahedr0n,
when does the USAMO qualifier list go up?
[good luck on the RSI decision. you really should open it. :-P ]

I Got In!!!!!!!

Well, well, what can I say. Congratulations to all the new inductees for RSI '05. I will most certainly be at MIT this summer, but not as a rickoid. Sonar, or whoever, start the 2006 thread at your leisure.

oh man... I got in, and I've no idea how... ::dazed::

tetrahedr0n, you've got a lot of self-control, not opening that letter. Heh, I put it at the bottom of a stack of random college mail and by the time I got to it my hands were shaking, and I pretty much tore the envelope open. Still can't believe it..

<--rejected

The USAMO qualifier list is up now, at

www.unl.edu/amc

I'm thinking of which one of the RSI letter or the list I should look at first :). Probably both have the same message for me: "sorry!"

oh crap viral im sorry

That small envelope scared the hell out of me.
I'm going to go crazy now I'll talk to you guys later.

rejected from RSI. not a particular surprise.

OWWW MY EGO!

Got rejected ^^^ :)

Ah well, I'll just have to beg on the streets for a research position somewhere!

tetrahedr0n, you did not make usamo

Well, thanks for the message lol. I did check before I read this thread tough. What a wonderful day - the cutoff for usamo was also 0.5 above my index score.

Alternate...

I guess that's basically a rejection....who the hell would pass up RSI?
sighh....

Wait, flier, you're a sophomore? Damn, you're another Boris...congrats! Congrats also to tsr, spyder, and altair. Everybody else, good luck. You'll be great.

233, is that a record high?
