I was thinking about applying to MITE2S...then I didn't...meh...isn't that for underrepresented minorities?
Oh, yeah. I'm asian, but I'm not quite sure if that counts as an...'underrepresented minority.' Caucasians might be. ;) [/jk]

my score wasn't that low, but it just seems like a 1600 or a 1580 would have put me in....

lol...of course...Caucasians might be.

Wrath of god, it's not too late, is it? I looked at their site, seems it runs from September to May. That would make it...not...to...late...right? Do you have to go to ME often though for that? All the addresses were in ME.

Ah...I was taking one of those college profile calculator things on the Princeton Review SAT/ACT cd set, which I borrowed from the library. I checked 'asian.' The profile index dropped several points...ah, I was miffed.

bliss in ignorance over here. i didnt even know those opportunities existed. stupid, stupid. ohh, yet music camp is soooo fun. a universal truth. what do you play?

so it's confirmed that's it's 5ish? Wow, hate to play the devil's advocate, but if you can count how many alternates there are on one hand, the most who have probably ever refused has never gone above ...2 or 3.

ai yi yi...

yeah- going through my own "inadequacy complex" phase thing- opened the letter 5 hrs ago, and still the words are echoing i my head... (alternate, alternate, alternate, etc.)

wow, that sounds kind of psychotic. im sorry!

Clarinet. Hey, at least you're just kicking yourself saying, 'Why didn't the fools tell me?' I have to kick myself and say, 'Shoot, why must I forget things?'

Hey, LadyinRed and Frod*a*, you're part of an even more exclusive group than the Rickoids! Congrats! :D

oh sorry zoogies, i was talking about the summer program.

Oh. Pooh. :)

confirmed-ish that it's 5. sonar, who I believe went there last year said it was 5ish on the waiting list.

alternate....sounds like a second rate citizen.

lol zoogies - I know! I'm more special than the Rickoids woohoo! I like thinking on the bright side like that...

but that doesn't last all that long...say 50 (domestic) were accepted maximum...that makes me at worst 55 or 56..SO close!!

I bet if you put that you were a waitlist for RSI, MIT and Caltech would be drooling to compete over you :)

Hey, if you're alternate, that makes the rest of us...like...plebes :)

I think it would sound odd to put down "alternate for RSI" on a college app...or am I overthinking?

nice song...though it's kind of depressing because doing all that is not as easy as it sounds...
lol..no it doesn't!

i think i would consider putting alternate for RSI. considering the quality of students RSI rejects, it seems being an alternate is quite a huge accomplishment.

(Aw...you were supposed to jump up and say, 'OMG!! Life of Brian references!!' And start quoting Monty Python like the world has never seen.)

I thought about putting it on college apps for a few minutes but I quickly wrote it off as sounding too desperate....I might have to reconsider....hmmm...
meh...going to RSI wasn't really about the college apps anyway....

zoogies: The only Monty Python references I recognize are from the Holy Grail...lol...(sad and pathetic I suppose?..but I've been told many a time that I live under a rock, so yeah)

Flier--Oh, that's cool. Like you, one of the '04 Rickoids dropped out of high school to go to college. He's at UPenn right now (coincidentally, he was the one with the single and the DDR pads. XP). And another guy from a couple years ago basically took off his last semester of high school to work as a chef in a restaurant, which is six kinds of awesome.

Good luck!

It's just Holy Grail and Life of Brian for me. Hey, you can recognize holy grail references. Nobody can call you pathetic if you can do that.

That's better than I can do; the only Monty Python song I can quote is "Every Sperm is Sacred". Oh, my geek cred, it is lacking.

Never heard that one in my life. :D Does nobody yell at us for going off-topic though? Just making sure ;)

ill reckon most of the lucky souls have wandered into the neighboring thread-- the RSI roster one, so we're freeeeee!
