The app asks for a stapled photocopy of the original app- does this mean the teacher recs have to be copied?

Also, for the courses taken, if we have more than one "Other" class, do we just go ahead and continue listing under the box?

no the teacher recs don't need to be copied.

yes.

alright. thanks ^_^

prori....don't comment on my livejournal and send email to me, if you have any questions, just post it here as I check this site more than i check my own email account :p

I'm thinking about applying to RSI, but there are two things I'm not sure how to address:

I'll be taking my SAT IIs in Jan, but those scores won't be avaiable until February, after the deadline (Writing and Math IIc). I have Chem, Math I, and Writing scores, but I'm assuming that Math II is what they really want.

I don't have any formal research experience, but I will be doing mathematics research at U of M this summer. However, the details are going to be ironed out in February to March. How would I address this in my application since plans aren't finalized?

just send it in to them when you get the score; they don't have to be official from CB. Make photocopies like stefo said

you'll find out your acceptance/rejection from RSI mid-march, so plan accordingly. I had to withdraw from Stanford's immunology research program because I got into RSI. My advice, don't address anything yet because everything is in the air.

I go to a school on the Big Island, (http://www.hpa.edu)Hawaii Preparatory Academy, though I live on Maui.

Kim went/goes to St. Joseph's.

All I really know about Iolani is that the pool is awesome ;-)

It's all right that I send in scores after the deadline? The deadline is the 1st of February for RSI, but my scores for Math II and Writing won't come in until the 4th of February.

i think it should be fine sonar. they'll be understanding.

For the recs, can you get math professors (I took a class) to fill it out for you or does it have to be just teachers?

statics-stanford's immuology program? can you give more info on that?

i just happened to stumble across this thread, and i got something in the mail about RSI. could someone give me more information on this program? do you do a research project with a professor at caltech or MIT? and you have to submit SAT mathiic scores? :? i'm kinda confused...

uhm zogoto, i'm not sure what the specific requirements are for the recs, but it should be fine if the professor can verify your work ethic and exceptional ability.

xinerz, you should google it. It's call "Center for Clinical Immunology at Stanford Summer Internship." It's a pretty sweet and prestigious summer program. You're collaborating with a scientist, they pay you 1.5K, they also prepare you for S/W and INTEL. The caliber of the projects there matches those of RSI.

for more information on RSI, look at www.cee.org, and yes you do a project with a scientist at either caltech, mit, harvard, boston college, boston university, or a private research firm in boston or pasadena, or even JPL, the famous Jet Propulsion Lab of NASA. yes you have to submit SAT MATH IIC scores.

Forgive my confusion, but does this mean that if we haven't taken the iic we NEED to really soon, or just if we have taken it we have to submit it. I glanced over the website and from the information that i gleaned it didnt seem that they were required, just the PSAT, and the app didnt have them on the front page, in the same way that the PSAT was placed on the front page. I'm really confused, but I am sure that you are correct, and unfortunatly i'll have to stop putting it off and take the test :)

And is it all right if teacher recommendations arrive late? Or do you have to send everything, all at once?

If I remember correctly, it says to send everything in one package.

hmm gosh i dont remember how i did it last yr, but just read the rules guys

wow, all you guys applying so early!!! come on wait to untill the 3rd week in january! I'm sure statistics will show that the later you apply to RSI the more likely you are to get in :-P

wow i just got the app. today, how come every1 knew about it so early!?
i am really strong in math and physics, but i didnt do any research or science fairs or anything. all i have in the math and science are is math league. and im from ny. do i have even a tiniest chance of getting in?

Wow, there's lots of info on this thread. Many thanks and props to those who answered questions. Now for me to ask mine lol. So, I downloaded the application today and was wondering whether I can have one of my reccomendations be from my lab mentor (...kind of like a teacher...)? Heh just wondering.

you could get him to do a separate letter of reccomendation kinglz.

surfinsofa..yes you have a chance if you applY!

and chris1, who is a rickoid04 from MIT, is right. The latter you apply, the more likely you'll get it. LOL. about 1/3 of us didnt know what the hell RSI was until JANUARY!
