Research Science Institute 2005

Is anyone putting their 2005 AMC12 A scores on their app? it hasn't been "given official status," but i got +23,-0 (143) and i think it would help my chances if i listed it...

that would be a really stupid plan - you simply dont know what your amc score is now. how would you determine if you didnt make a bubbling mistake? that the machine didnt misread your test? its not your score if its not official.

isnt it too late already....app was due feb 1st

no, theres been an extension. read the back pages

@Random^4, I just asked mine to write me a *recommendation and told them I was applying to a science program at MIT over the summer.

I gave resumes to them since they asked.

ok thanks to both of you to replying! That really helps, thanks.

wow, you must have really nice teachers that they're doing this in less than a week. Mine just knew me so I hope they wrote good things! I sent mine express. It should get there friday
I wouldn't put a score unless it was official either...but we're taking B so mine is nonexistant!

so just checking one last time before i submit my app, is it okay that i have both my subfields under Computer Science?

yessir/ma'am

-edit-atleast i think it's okay.....

Most teachers return rec's in about 2-3 days.

Everyone is sending their app in the mail, right? There seems to be no way to submit it online; the online process simply outputs a page to be printed and mailed.

tetrahedr0n,
any idiot can fill in 25 (or 23...) bubbles correctly and reading bubbles isn't a very complex job for a machine. I think i'll mention it and explain that it isn't official on my app...yet it seems that an actual AMC12 score - albeit unofficial - would carry more weight than a mock amc12 score... mad props for choosing additive number theory though :-D

hehe tsr472, maybe im a little bitter because i sent in my application before the amc, but anyway, yeah, i think that makes sense, explaining it should work. but hey - people misbubble all the time! i know a person who scored an 150 on the amc a and then an 86 on the amc b because of bubbling issues 2 years back.

thanks - what did apply for tsr?

My teachers are AWESOME... They were happy that I got it to them with more than a day to spare. lol. I have confidence in them, which is good b/c from what i can tell they (the recs) are REALLY important...

so...how much did you guys write?

i've got a paragraph for each of the questions/problems (like 10 lines each) and two really big ones for the EC part

single spaced of course

lol cool. well my teachers write them fast but they don't like to be panicked at the last minute. :) whatever I got them...and I think they're good...sigh mine was two and a third pages long or so

I gave my CS teacher the rec and he handed it back in about 2 hours....

lol cool...anyhoo now are we moving on to the stage where we wait together in agony? haha jk! let's be cheery!

agonize, agonize, agonize hehe ^^

It's not due until the 9th... I have yet to send mine in (I do intend to).
