Research Science Institute 2005

hahaha. I speak chinglish too (but just at home).. It's very convenient since my parents don't understand stuff if I talk completely in English, and my brother doesn't understand if I talk completely in Chinese.

hehe, stupid whitewashed brothers =P

yeah, my friends at school can decifer what i'm talking about thru the english: they're usually guessing though, but it's not far off since i've got the engilsh part also

Ha...this reminds me of another part from Feynman's book.

Someone at Princeton, I think, was trying to play a joke on him by having a native Chinese speaker greet Feynman in Chinese. She said the greeting, which took Feynman by surprise (since he has no idea what she said). So he responded, in the same intonation and similar sounds, but in complete gibberish.

And the Chinese speaker then said to the other person, "I knew this was going to happen. I speak Mandarin but he speaks Cantonese."

mhm! which is completely different.

i loved the part about him going to brazil and playing bongo drums. =)

Do you guys think its too late to notify RSI about new SAT scores slash other test scores etc? Decisions will be out in around 2 weeks...

Chances are that any supplemental information, especially test scores, wouldn't affect your decision at all. As long as you meet the benchmark for standardized test scores, it isn't necessary to send in more. Unless you have anything monumental like winning Intel, I wouldn't notify them. However, I suggest you get a second opinion on it. Personally, my philosophy is "I did my best, now wait for the results."

lol ya Cantonese and Mandarin are like totally different and don't ever tell a Chinese person they're the same...(or at least my ex-friend) I loved the part with the drums cuz he was some random American and everyone loved his drumming! :)

ugh. there's too much happening in march. preparation for regional sci fairs, midterms, sats (which i'm not taking but i like to feel like i am), experimenting, finishing papers, DECISIONS!!!!!, etc etc >_______< anyone else ready for a better month (better as in if you receive that ill fated rejection)?

I'm a semi finalist in the new york city science and engineering fair
Yay!

Congratulations, schemer!

March is going to suck. March 12 is the new SAT, and one week thereafter, March 19th, is our regional ISEF-qualifying science fair. I don't even have a board built yet, and I don't have nearly enough data to prove my engineering goals. Argh...maybe I'll just use some of last year's data, hmmm...that's an idea...

ohh dude I just found out my fair is next tuesday!!!!
blows majorly since I thought it was in may and haven't done anything yet

So, getting back to RSI. How's everyone feeling?

nervous and rejected. you?

I am, yet again, already envying the people who got in... I'm trying to not get hopes up WHILE trying to not be too down. lol

Omg I Got In.

What?! ...........

ROFL that was funny!

haha, stop picking on the nervous wrecks

dude, i was like ".......... decisions don't come out THIS early........ the international deadline hasn't even arrived yet (technically)"

get a life boy =P
