random, the link doesn't seem to work. It directs to a 404 page. Could you please post the link to the page, because I'd love to see it. Thanks.

Let the rumination begin. Don't develop an ulcer over RSI... have fun with the application when it comes out.

lol, but I think every rickoid was as nervous as we are.
I got a 3 on the AP Physics C exam as a sophomore...does that just ruin my chances??? I think I could do pretty well on the SAT II Physics, though. Do AP scores matter very much?

I was accepted with only one AP score, a 5 on European History.

Hmm...I got a 5 on the calc bc exam, but I think a 3 on a physics test is pretty bad. Also, does RSI take more than 1 person from a school? There's someone at my school who has pretty amazing stats and I can't think of anything that would put me above her. I'm pretty scared because I don't see her not getting in...

Any quotas that exist are more state/region dependent as far as I know. There were kids from the same school at RSI '05.

jaysus math 55 junior year of highschool?!

Yeah some girl is doing that haha. And the only kids from the same school (or even close to that) were 2 from NY (same district), and frit0 and emperorLZ (he'll be here soon I bet) from St. Louis. Other than that, I don't remember any (except the 5 singapore kids from the same school...)

Corina, I don't think AP scores matter since couldn't you just not report? Besides, you got a 5 in BC, and that's all I had when I applied. And if you're scared of whom I think you are, don't worry.

Aren't Justin and Lisa from the same school, too?

Yup, he forgot them.

I think Yi and Hann are from the same school too.

I have some subpar stats like a 4 on AP Chem and a dreaded 116.5 on AMC10. So Rickoids 2005, should I just not include these stats since they may hurt me in the application process???

The 4 isn't that bad. Neither is the 116.5....

Wow... sorry about the link. That's really, really weird... it was working yesterday, but the file doesn't seem to be there anymore. :(

gurlnextdoor: They ask you for all your AP results, and you have to include a photocopy (as I recall) of your AP score report, so I'm afraid that there's no way to get around the 4 on AP Chem.

If you're applying for math, don't include the AMC score - in that case, there will be plenty of people with 150s and USAMO qualifications, so any AMC score that's not stellar is probably best not included. On the other hand, if you're applying for biology (or something similar), I don't really know what the best choice would be. I think Vinny (zogoto) sent in an AMC score, and he applied for biology, so maybe he could advise you about it.

-Edit... ah, Vinny responded while I was writing the note. He's right: those aren't bad scores - but RSI can be scarily competitive, and a lot depends on what subject you're applying for (although I think including the chem AP is mandatory).

Have you taken any SAT IIs yet? One good way to make up for the 4 on AP Chem would be getting an 800 on the chem SAT II.

Both Hann and Yi attended Harker, although I think Hann was accepted to RSI as an international student from Singapore, since she's an exchange student here (and hi Jen!!).

On the app, it asks for the SAT score if taken, is that required or can I just submit my PSATs?

Edit: Because I took the SATs back in 7th grade and got a 1440, and it's not all that impressive compared to the 1590s/2350s you guys have. In addition, I don't think my score has risen that much... So I'd prefer to keep it off. Although I guess I'll have until junior year to decide :). If that makes any sense what so ever.

You can just submit PSATs - not everyone has an SAT score at the time of application. However, most people on the high-scoring end tend to score higher on the SAT, so it might not hurt to take it.

SAT IIs would probably be more important, though, since they provide a metric that's distinct from the SAT/PSAT. But be warned - almost everyone I knew at RSI had straight 800s on the SAT IIs... it's definitely not a requirement, but it's almost ubiquitous. Then again, one of the most insanely brilliant people I met there didn't have all 800s.

I would submit the SAT score as well, but emphasize that it was from 7th grade.

Yeah... Hann was accepted as a Singaporean international student. I forgot about that.

Hey Matt (and all the other Rickoids)! I succumbed to the will of CC... time to relive the RSI application fun!

What score is high enough on the PSATs?

Also, what did the majority of the Rickoids have?

PSATs are relatively minor...they can't get you in or ensure your rejection. Grades are much more important, but thats not enough either...cee has to see something unique/special in you, probably through recommendations or your essays.
