Does anyone know how we should verify our standardized test scores? RSI isn't listed by College Board or ACT and you can't send PSAT directly from College Board either. Maybe just a copy of the official document?

Well, for question 7, I assumed that you're supposed to fill in that chart on the bottom of the answer sheet.

A copy of your official score report is fine; in fact, that's what they want. And the technical skills and academic background part refers to the chart on the bottom (instructions say "list below"). It's an extremely open application, and you can adopt whatever format you choose, so just be creative/resourceful about how you fit in other technical skills/relevant information.

MHSWrestler, I don't think you DON'T have a chance of getting in, but I'll be honest - the PSAT score is kind of a bummer. You should certainly apply (the RSI admissions process is not long and ardous as many of you make it seem), but don't get "preoccupied", I guess.

Thanks corinao! I actually have a question for the score report. I got not so high scores for Math II and Bio, and I'm planning to retake them, but not in time for the RSI app, and I really want to send in my chem score. The official score reports shows all the scores though, so what should I do? Should I list all the SAT IIs that I've taken, even if that sheds somewhat of a negative light on my app?

Saffaron, I wouldn't send them in if they're below 700. Like I said, score don't matter that much, but poor science scores are weird. Don't worry, plenty of people have gotten in with no SAT IIs and a good chem score won't tip the admission in your favor by much.

Both were mid seven hundred range, but after browsing through the 2005 thread, I was intimidated by all the high range scores out there. I think I'll focus more on my essays then, and forget about listing SAT IIs. I'm getting SAT I scores back on the 21st... so nervous, I'm hoping my math score will make up for a 73 on the PSATs. Thanks for the advice corinao!

sooo....We can send our ACT scores in place of our PSAT scores?

Yeah, that should be fine...

Is it necessary to know computer programming? They ask for that explicitly but my school doesn't offer it.

Not really, but I took APCS in school and know a lot of JAVA and outside of school, I run an online forum (as part of my business), kinda like this one, that runs on MySQL/PHP and I know how to code in that too.

Woohoo the thread title is fixed.

time to bump this thread...so how are the apps going?

Has anyone ever sent an abstract of their previous research with their application? Thanks.

Yeah I did.

o.O so it's ok to send abstracts eh? How many have u sent?

Is it ok to be ultra-specific with your research ideas/ topics and subtopics? I kind of have an eccentric (not morbid or anything crazy like that) interest. It's just not very mainstream and might require some explaining. I can’t really change my interest because then, uh, it wouldn’t be my interest. Did anyone else have this problem?

btw i was told there's some rule that those under 18 can't work at MIT unless ur doing like math. is this true?

So how are you guys going about teacher recs? I just saw that the rec form is specific instead of the "write a page" thing most programs have, which is kind of iffy, and I'm seriously thinking of not applying because I don't want to have to ask everyone to write TWO for me when they're already swamped with college recommendations for the seniors...

most college recs would be done by now i presume. anyway, it's their problem, they should manage their time. `
