Well the thing is whenever i see forms and applications, they always say you have to be a citizen of permanent residence (vis, greencard) i dunno, maybe RSI is an exception, but this is true for lot of stuff.

yeah you're right...

gah i hope RSI isn't an exception...maybe that lady misunderstood my email.

craps!! now that u've mentioned it... MITES doesn't allow even permanent residents to apply... i don't know about RSI... and if I were to choose international application, that puts me together with probably 900 other applicants from that country (and they're all "crazy" as stated by previous posts). Man, I really wanna go and was planning on something like this since about three years ago... I really don't wanna see this dream fall in vain ><... and i don't see on the RSI introduction page that only US citizens could apply, it only says (I think) eligible students are those who have finished their third year of high school of the equivalence. This doesn't exclude permanent residents. Also, if they're so considerate about diversity (emphasized on their website), why would they exclude people from a variety of backgrounds just from within the nation itself? We are acquainted with both the culture of our native country and that of the US. I would really consider it unfair to exclude us because of our country of origin or background (which they state they won't be prejudiced...)

AAAH!!!!!! I GOT ANOTHER EMAIL BACK! AND PERMANENT RESIDENTS CAN APPLY!!!!!!!!!

whew. that's a relief.

"Thank you for your email and your interest in RSI. We have a new policy this year that allows permanent residents (“Green Card” holders) to apply for RSI. Applicants with this immigration status will be considered as part of the “domestic” pool for RSI 2008.

Best Regards,

Cliff Bowman

RSI Director"

Wow, that's exciting.

nice, thats a relief.

YESS!! praise God!!!!! whewwwww
now i'll have to wait for a month... and hope that my green card is fully approved by the time of application... dang it... guess it's not totally over yet eh? lol but this is a crucial step! glad that i have a sparkle of hope there =D

RSI is at both MIT and caltech right ?

It was only at Caltech one year (I think it was 2004). Unless something has changed again, it's only at MIT.

They hold the .pdf version of the applications until the paper ones go out in the mail. This seems to happen around Thanksgiving. I'd check the cee website next week to see if the apps get posted.

OMFG. Dammit I couldn't apply last year because I wasn't a citizen......=/ Just one year late. omfg!!!!

The applications are up! Good luck everyone!

!!!! WHEEE i'm excited =]

just one question, though...are SAT/ACT scores absolutely required to apply? i'm taking the jan SAT...dunno if my scores'll be in on time...

oh and happy thanksgiving =]

Are we required to disclose all SAT test dates or just our best one? And with AP scores, must we list all or just the ones we choose to share/are relevant?

My tendency when dealing with any application form is to report everything. It shouldn't matter to RSI if you have taken a test more than once.

(What do the alumni of the program think about this?)

Well say theres a particular AP score that we'd rather not disclose because we failed to take it seriously at the time (regrettably)...

couldn't you just cancel it?
