Research ....Useless?

Aight so i thought that colleges love reasearch and publications and stuff, especially for premed(me)k, so i got into it and liked a lot too and now ive completed one and am doing two more but i think its useless coz it hasnt helped a a wee bit ??
I havnt seen any special treatment...

Whats ur take ppl??

I really hope you didn't mean it when you said that research was "useless." Not everyone has the opportunity to do research in high school (I wish I did!) -- if you do get that opportunity, it's something you do for the experience, and not just to get an edge in college applications.

Did you write about your research at all in your essays? If you truly "liked it a lot," you should have been able to convey your enthusiasm through your essays. And if, after all this, you weren't able to get into your top choice colleges...I'm sorry, but sometimes life just works that way, and I hope you still got something out of your research.

If your research is anything like your post in terms of clarity .... well, good luck.

You SHOULD be doing research cause it's stimulating and/or a nice change. If not - what do u expect to do in college?

The learning experience should be enuf - if it helps you get in, well, that's just icing on the cake.

Well, it's not like if you do research colleges will suddenly send their representatives to your house, invite you to go on a tour of their campus, all expenses paid, if you were expecting any special treatment like that. But I bet it will help you out in the admissions process.

REsearch was perhaps my best high school experience. And it does help. If you are good enough to do well at top competitions, you'll see a fair share of recruiters.
If you just take your school's research course and dont do anything, then of course it will be useless.

high schools have a research course?....i just did mine at a couple of hospitals and am thinking of doing one on my own now ...just need $$
