research

Personally I've never heard of anyone wanting a hs student in their lab if he or she wasn't a family friend or w/e...

You have to understand...experimentation dollars add up....I doubt few people are willing to spend that type of money on risky hs students who'll leave in a summer...

I actually have hope of being accepted now, having heard that research isn't even normal.

I don't know of anyone from my school who has gotten into Caltech. We have no Math Team, no Science Club, no research opportunities, not even a Science Fair. All we can do is try to take extra science classes. XP.

Our school is the same way. I've never known anyone to get into Caltech in a long time, except this year myself and one of my classmates got in (although he ultimately chose Rice due to a scholarship).

That's exactly right. I talked to a professor at nearby college to do some lab work( not even dare to mention research). He told me i can definetly do it next year. WTH, i ll be gone next year,thx for the offer....

WTH = what the

I didn't do any research in high school other than some "science fair" type projects (and I mean really basic stuff, not done at a university or anything like that, and not entered in anything but the county science fair).
