Research

I am currently going to a cc, and am planning on transferring to a University after this year. I am currently doing a lot of volunteer work in hospital settings. However, I also know that med school admissions like to see research experience on your resume. Should I wait until I am at a larger university to do research, or is there anything in research a cc student can do before they get there?? Thanks.

I imagine that the prospects of doing research at a cc aren't that great, but you can still check the biology and chem departments to see if any projects are currently going on. Another option is to apply to summer research programs for this time next year. The following link has a detailed list of programs: Co-ops/Internships on the Web

Getting research experience prior to transferring would be great for your resume and could open doors for you in acquiring a spot in the lab at your four year instituition.

Thanks for your advice...anyone else have any suggestions? How hard will it be to get involved in the lab once I transfer as a junior?
