Reserving Books

So I reserved books at SOAR, but while looking on the El Corral bookstore’s website it seems like they don’t have any of my books available used. So I was wondering if since I’ve reserved them does that mean I have to buy them? Or can I decide not to and find them for cheaper on Amazon? Thanks :]

See if you can change your bookstore online order. If not, when you pick up the ordered textbooks, just return them. There is some acceptable time in which you can return the books and get all of your money back. That should give you enough time to find used books elsewhere.

i just got emails confirming what books i have available for pick up.
but it doesn’t have my pols 112 book, and i’m trying to edit the order, because it says you can do that.
but i can’t find where to do that. help?

i need to change the credit card info and i don’t know where! hellpp

So is our credit card automatically charged once our books are available without first getting an e-mail confirmation? I’d want to know how much the textbooks are before they charge me…

My husband said our credit card was charged around $400 , but we never recieved an
e-mail that I know of. I’d also like to know which books were paid for. Were any not available? I might call this week.

When the student reserves the books with the bookstore, they create a user name (maybe their portal user id?) and a password. If you have access to those then you can see what was ordered and what was charged.

Thank you ss1202 I will have my son check on that.

While searching the El Corral site, I found out that reserved books can be picked up on Sun 9/12 at VG Cafe from 10:00am-6:00pm and on Mon. 9/13 from 7:45-6:00pm

Off topic suggestion:
Please try to look for books online prior to buying them from the bookstore. I am taking 18 units this fall and books and the bookstore reserve system quoted me close to $1000 just for books alone (whoa!!!). I searched google and bought the international editions of all the textbooks that I need and I spent about $120 in total. Given that they are paperbacks and such.

Also, with your CP’s .edu email address, you can signup for Amazon Prime, and they are offering free promotion for students for the first year. That way, you can get your books shipped to you even faster with the free upgrade to 2-3 days shipping!

My daughter just ordered the remainder of her books online today through El Corral bookstore. We decided to just do it this way the first quarter. But I told her from now on she really needs to check out cheaper priced books at places like Amazon, Half.com, etc.

She decided to order the book for the History class she’s on the waiting list for. She’s #2 and feels confident she’ll get in. If not, she can return the book ASAP. I’m thinking positive that she’ll get in.

I no longer have access to my daughter’s portal :(, so I can’t go and look up how much the card was charged. I’ll have to ask her to look. I know the most expensive books and supplies will be for the Econ. class.

Has anyone rented books through El Corral? What’s the difference in price? I told her certain books not in her major might make more sense to rent or buy very cheaply, at least.
