Resetting GPA by Changing Schools

After finishing my Freshman year of Northeastern University with a 2.1 GPA, I have thoughts of transfering surging through my mind.

I applied to CUNY Queens College and got accepted for Fall 2009. I was going to transfer but then I thought, "Im going to be downgrading from highly respected Northeastern University to CUNY Queens. Is that a wise choice?"

The only reason I would want to transfer would be to reset my GPA and start new. I know that I could easily get above a 3.0 my 3rd semester at Northeastern, but for the rest of my Northeastern years the 2.8 and 1.7 from the first two semesters will haunt me. This will lessen my chance of getting accepted to med school.

My quick question is..Is it worth downgrading from Northeastern to Queens college to reset my GPA or Stay in Northeastern despite my first year GPA of 2.1.

wait why would your GPA be “reset”? doesn’t it transfer over?

I’m not sure about med school admissions, but from what I’ve seen it’s a rare university program that doesn’t require you to submit transcripts from every college you have attended.

Med schools will look at both transcripts. If that’s the only reason you’re transferring, don’t bother.
