Residence hall assigments are up!

im in zahm. whats the deal there.

^thanks biodomer…i really dont have a great idea about north/mod quad other than a small sample size

and zahm is a rather interesting dorm that a lot of other guys dorms dont really like…from an outsider’s perspective it seems like brainwashing the residents of zahm tend to love it…they have a lot of traditions…many crazy ones but they are a very tight crazy dorm…they are up there with alumni in terms of crazy/spirited dorms.

Any info about Welsh Fam?

princetongirl93,

I know a good amount about Welsh Fam as I have several friends in Welsh Fam so if you have any particular questions, PM me. Welsh Fam is right next to Keough and is closer to Main Circle and the main road into campus. It has a great location on West Quad and you’ll use South Dining Hall. Also, in the past there seems to be a good amount of engineers in Welsh Fam. You have AC which is nice for the first couple of weeks and the last couple of weeks and the rooms are a good size.

welcome to the house gp. you are in a position of great envy

I’m in O’Neill - anyone know anything about it?

I have a friend in Dillon to the two people above who are in it - he loves it there.

I’m in St Ed’s!

Pasquerilla East looks like it’s located pretty far away from most of the main buildings/all the other dorms. Has anyone found this to be a problem?

I lived in O’Neill last summer…basically the same thing in terms of dorm quality as Welsh Fam, Keough, and McGlinn … they were all built at pretty much the same time and under the same architect. O’Neill and Keough are rivals and so there is usually some fun things during the year in regards to the rivalry.

I don’t know much about St. Ed’s other than it is behind the Dome and the first and second floors have really tall ceilings. I heard that before this was banned, some St. Ed’s guys built a three story apartment basically because the ceilings were so high.

And PE is pretty far from central campus, but you will get to know a lot of the mod/north quad people. For instance, even though I am closer to central campus, I still don’t know many north/mod quad people because you tend to hang out around your dorm. So I know a lot more south/west quad people than north/mod quad people.

My son will be in Dillon. It’s ok to be jealous.

(That’s one of their mottos apparently).

Anybody have the +/-'s on St. Edwards???

St. Eds…tallest ceilings in the rooms for beautiful lofts, closest male dorm to Lewis, the largest female dorm, middle of campus, close to everything, oldest, most tradition, famous alumni have lived there, smaller, more closely knit community-type dorm, hold week long dorm event including dinner in Chicago and a party on a yacht, has two tables reserved near the door in north dining hall so conversations can be quickly started with any ladies entering to eat.
Cons: no AC

I got a quad in Badin! It sounds pretty awesome. Any inside scoop for Badin?

Badin is very old and small (the smallest women’s dorm). My daughter lived there and loved it. She had a cramped quad the first year but a fairly spacious double the second. Of course it’s right across from the South Dining Hall so it’s almost as convenient as delivery. It must be the only dorm with a porch, and the Freshman Year of Studies office is right next door. Pack light and you’ll be happier (you heard it here first). My daughter also loved Sister Denise, the rector. Congratulations! You won’t be sorry you chose Notre Dame.

Thank you, Aristophanes! Do you know if we are able to loft beds?

Not only can you loft beds, you pretty much have to in a quad. At least the ceilings are very high.

Any info on Ryan other than it being the newest and having AC?

Try googling “Notre Dame [dorm name] website.” Most dorms seem to have their own (student-run) websites, which are helpful sources of information.

For example, if you haven’t already found it, here’s yours: https://sites.google.com/site/ryanhallnd/

Here is the one for St. Edward’s Hall. That’s my son’s assignment.

And to anyone else in Morrissey Manor, here’s our website.
