Today I received a notice from the college I plan on attending this bedding brand called RHL. I did some research and have found mixed reviews about it. Any advice? Because ordering everything at once would be nice, but I don’t want to be uncomfortable for the school year.
Those tend to be overpriced; you can likely find TXL bed sheets and comforters at a bedding or department store for the same price (or less) with better quality. I got my bedding at BB&B.
The RHL linens are of inferior quality and will not last, this is from personal experience. Try Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond. By the end of June, these stores should have the Twin XL sized sheets that are usually needed for the dorm room beds along with any necessities needed for the new college student. You can order on-line and pick up at the store closest to the college.
Agreed with the above. Start at Target (they will be cheaper) and then fill in the gaps with Bed Bath and Beyond.
I heard walmart has pretty cheap stuff, but I looked at rhl reviews and they were pretty bad so I’ll stay away
Pottery Barn Teen’s sale section met our needs, good discount, quality and service.
I second @NorthernMom61 on the PB Teen line. Lots of patterns and colors to choose from, even on sale, and if you want you can get a matching blanket or comforter for even more discount. BB&B is good for other needs, like storage boxes, shower stuff, plates, etc.
I have never heard of the Pottery Barn teen line, I will check that out
Never received over 350.00 order from last August and was never refunded. Called multiple times and was told they were delivered so I needed to find them. Had to purchase all new lines at Walmart after getting moved in to the dorm. Don’t buy from them
The Company Store also has a college section. A lot was on sale, then recently they had another 20% off the full order plus free shipping. Don’t know if they’re still offering that discount. Since D’s college is near family, I’m shipping a few things to them now so we don’t need to carry/send cross country.
We got our d’s bedding from RHL because we heard good things about the quality from friends with kids further into college. Not disappointed. It was nice she had a lot to pick from so she could coordinate with her roommate. We ordered near the deadline so being a nervous mom, I called customer service. Didn’t know we can return items for replacements all the way to graduation. Very happy with how I was treated overall.
S was not enthused about going shopping for linens–so he decided to order from RHL. He ordered the Campus Pak–I upgraded the sheets to 400 TC and the egg crate to gel. Everything arrived very quickly. We just unpacked and started washing things. So far we are very pleased.
Are your wallets pleased, eli? /
Second the order at Kohls/Target/Bed Bath & Beyond and have delivered to the store nearest the school. Better quality, easy pick up once you get there.
thanks, im trying to decide now whether to get everything now, or get a few things now and pick everything up from the closest store.
I’m only buying a few things and will buy larger stuff like pillows and such after arriving on campus.
@stugace - it pays to order things ahead of time. EVERYONE moving on to campus will be hitting the local stores and even though they try to stock for the move-in rush they run out of just about everything dorm-related pretty quickly.
We only purchased new fitted sheets and mattress cover (since need the XL for most dorms). Never really understood the need for all new linens. My kids took reg twin or full flat sheet (if they wanted them at all), a fleece blanket and light down comforter with cover…and managed just fine. Just because the bed is twin XL, doesn’t mean all your linens need to be!
I guess if you have extra comforters and blankets sitting around you don’t need new. But if you don’t or need them for visits from grandparents or other guests, you will need to buy some for college if you don’t want them to have to bring home sheet, blanket and comforter at thanksgiving , Christmas, spring break etc…
Don’t buy from them. Having bought XL sheets at BBB for my son, I though RHL prices and patterns made them a reasonably good buy for my daughter. But a fleece throw I bought came apart in the wash and wasn’t as good as one I bought for a lot less at Ikea (I returned the throw and am waiting for my refund). Just discovered Good Housekeeping gave them a very poor rating (http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home-products/dorm-bedding-reviews/g2129/dorm-bedding/). Also, they ran a sale after I got my order and refused to do a price adjustment, unlike just about any other retail operation on the planet.
