I'm going to be getting a dorm room in College Nine and I was wondering if the mattresses they have are acceptable?

They sent us this thing asking if we want to buy anything and I was wondering if I might need an "Egg Crate Pad"

I'm not super picky or anything but I care about my sleep.

Can anyone offer advice or speak from experience?

I'm ordering my things tomorrow

Thanks!

Unless you really luck out, the mattresses are going to be at least a few years old. Mattresses get rotated around, so there’s always the slim chance you’ll get a new one, but I wouldn’t count on it. Depending how firm/soft you like your bed, it’s worth buying an egg crate or memory foam topper. FWIW, I wouldn’t buy it from the direct mailer. Egg crate is around $10 at Bed Bath and Beyond, memory foam is around $25. Watch the back to school sales and use coupons for the best deal. Don’t forget to get Twin XL bedding!

Don’t buy stuff from that magazine. BB&B and Target have everything you need. I got a memory foam mattress cover for $25 (50% off) at Target last year and it was nice. I do recommend getting something, though most do fine with just the mattress.

And regarding XL twin bedding, don’t kill yourself if you can’t find XL bedding. My roommates had regular twin bedding and the bedding fit fine.

My mattress had some nasty stains on it when I first moved in. I requested a new one and they delivered it the next day. If you find that your mattress is unacceptable, they’ll replace it… make sure you do this within the first few days after moving in, though. They get stingy as the year progresses.

I got my memory foam from overstock for like $60. 3 inch highloft

It was like sleeping on a cloud…

That’s very helpful guys, thanks so much!

Yeah those egg crate ones are really weird to sleep on. The memory foam ones are the way to go :)
