hello all! i have practically committed to nyu, and i have been admitted to college of arts and sciences. after a bit of browsing through past posts regarding the residence halls, i still have a couple of questions that i would like to have clarified, and i would also like opinions on which hall is the best suited for me! i don’t mind too much when it comes to party life, so either a loud and sociable dorm or a more quite and reserved one are both ok with me.
so here is what i need clarification on: on the following link: https://www.nyu.edu/life/living-at-nyu/on-campus-living/residence-halls.html , nyu has all their residence halls posted, and the ones marked #fyre are for freshmen. although i would not mind a traditional style dorm, apartment style dorms appeal to me much much more. so, regarding apartment dorms, how many people are usually in a room? is there a bathroom private to students and their roommates?
also, for those in nyu currently, since i have been admitted to the college of arts and sciences, and plan on majoring in some sort of mathematics, which dorm would be optimal to courses that i would need to take?
and last but not least, i want to know what others are thinking about for their residence hall. which hall are you hoping to get into?
None of the NYU residence halls have communal bathrooms. In apartment style housing, there will be two bedrooms connected by a common area, kitchenette, and bathroom. The most common arrangements for the suites are two doubles (two people in each room) or a double and a triple (two people in one room and three people in the other room). These suites can be found in traditional style housing, minus the common area and kitchen.
You’d probably want to be closer to WSP since most of the CAS classes are there. The apartment style residence halls for freshmen (Palladium, Third North, and UHall) are closer to Union Square and are a ten to fifteen minute walk to the park. Palladium and UHall are mostly upperclassmen and 3N is the only all-freshmen apartment style residence hall.
@seeniebeenie@Boy_314 I actually heard someone lives in Weinstein says the triples in Weinstein have communal bathrooms that people on the floor share one bathroom
another question: you said that Palladium, 3N, and UHall are about 10 minute walks to WSP, but how does that compare to the other traditional style dorms? Are they closer or further to CAS classes relatively?
The traditional style dorms are closer to WSP. From farthest to closest, it’s Founders (12th and 4th Ave), Brittany (10th and Broadway), Rubin (10th and 5th Ave), Weinstein (8th and University Place)/Hayden (W 4th and Washington Square West), and Goddard (W 4th and Washington Square East). Goddard is the closest to the main academic buildings (Silver/Waverly, Kimmel/Bobst/GCASL, Stern, etc.).
