I haven't had the opportunity to go through any of the residence halls at U-M and would like to hear from those who know best, current students (or people who have seen the dorms in person =)). Are the living conditions good? What hall/location would you suggest?
I am going to study engineering, but I don't really want to live on north campus unless the residence halls are a lot nicer. Are there any fitness rooms in the halls, or are they all located in separate buildings? Which location (North, Hill, or Central) is the most sought after? Right now, Mosher-Jordan looks like it will be nice, since it will be completely re-done by fall '08, but will freshman have any chance at all to live there?

Anything that you have to say about the housing on the U-M campus would be highly appreciated

If you are an engineering student, I don't see why you would like to stay at one of the dorms located in Central Campus.

Considering that you are an engineering student and that you don't like to stay at North Campus...I recommend one of the dorms up in Hill (yes, that includes Mosher-Jordan). CCRB, our primary gym, is located in Hill as well.

I live in South Quad, and my dorm is probably the most popular one here for its proximity to academic buildings located in Central.

But for next year, I am applying to Mosher-Jordan.

He's a freshman. He's going to have about one engineering class and three LSA classes a semester for next year. Central makes perfect sense for him.
