<p>Any of u guys have checked out the Colgate Residence Halls ??</p>
<p>Yeah, I actually over nighted during April Days at the Gate house (the newest dorm on campus but also considered a temporary building). Apparently my roommate said her room was a double but the university made it a triple. She lucked out though because 1) the third roommate never showed up and 2) her other roommate when to another room because she was sick. </p>
<p>The dorms have carpet and really should only house two people. The floor I was on was coed. It is obvious that the building has suffered damage made by its residents but also displays how quickly the maintenance is with repairing the damage fairly well.</p>
<p>There are boy and girl bathrooms. One can see that the original layout for the bathrooms was changed because the boys' bathroom has pink stalls while the girls' stalls are blue. All in all, I found the building tidy, people put trash where it is supposed to go and the bathrooms were clean. I believe around fifty or less live on each floor.</p>
<p>Gatehouse sucks. I walked through there and when into a few rooms, and I would be ****ed if I had to live there. It has to be the worst dorm. (no offence to Blank)</p>
<p>I stayed in a suite in Stillman and it was very nice. Also heard that Andrews is just as good. The suites in those two would have to be the best.</p>
<p>When my D did her overnight a couple of weeks ago, she was advised by a couple of people to write in on her Acceptance Form (even though there was no space for it) a request for a dorm choice.</p>
<p>Did anyone else get that tidbit? Or should I check to see if one of her legs is longer than it was before she went up there?</p>
<p>(BTW, she asked for Stillman or Andrews)</p>
<p>My mom's friend used to work at ResLife at Colgate, and her advice was to not put your first choice as first, since almost no one gets their first choice, but lots of people get second choices. (There may not be a line for that anymore since they changed the forms.) Also, the substance-free dorm is one of the nicest for freshman. Oh, and don't get angry when you get tripled, because it's not ResLife's fault the admissions office overbooks Colgate every year.</p>
<p>From what I heard, they send out the survey and you put down your choices such as suite, single ...</p>
<p>I don't think that writing a dorm choice on the acceptance form will do anything. There would be no real reason whey the Reslife people would see that form.</p>
<p>I also did an april visit day. I also stayed in Stillman. Stillman is coed by floor and all four person suite style. I really enjoyed the four people to a room over two people. Andrews is the same way only it is coed by room, the common area for each room is much larger and it is newer. I think one other one i saw was Curtis (not sure on name) it was really new and it had doubles, triples, and quads next year it will be all frosh in that dorm. </p>
<p>As for the form, from what i heard you rank how many people you want to live with (i.e. in a quad, triple, double, or single) there is no space to put specifically what dorm you want to be in ( the people i met there said they did it and it didn't make a difference, the administration said the same thing) although there is an "addition comments" part where some people do say which one they want to be in. </p>
<p>I would suggest a quad more room to find at leadt one person you live with that you will get along with for frosh year. Hope this all helps or is interesting1</p>
<p>nice to know that u guys visited Colgate during the visit days...i had gone for a trek to the Everest Base Camp during those days...cudnt make it to Colgate if I hadn't gone...</p>

<p>Yea i haven't stayed in any of the dorms but from what I've seen and heard from current freshmen I want a suite in West Stillman.</p>

<p>D is currently a freshman. She filled out a rather extensive questionaire last spring and was so fortunate in that Colgate does a remarkable job of matching roommates. They have very similar likes and dislikes and have chosen to remain roommates again next year. As far as getting the dorm of your choice as a freshman......your chances are very slim but you may get lucky. Good luck to all of you and I believe you will love Colgate.</p>

<p>I'd assume some info about the dorms will be provided when they send out the questionaire, I recall hearing it will be in late May, but does anyone know for sure when that will be?</p>
<p>I guess it's probably not the school's main item of concern at the moment, with exam week and dorms closing to all but Seniors this weekend, then Comencement next weekend.</p>
<p>Perhaps it will all take a bit more sorting out because of Colgate's still fledgling Residential Education System and First-Year Life Skills Program (BTW, does anyone know if they actually implemented that with last year's Freshman, or will this year be the first?). </p>
<p>Still, at some other schools incoming freshmen already know who their room mates will be and have begun corresponding!</p>
<p>Omg... I just wrote a long thing about each dorm, and it didnt go through! Heres a short version:</p>
<p>Stillman: 3 parts, center, east, and west. west is smokers, of all things that can be smoked. singles, trips and quads. party dorm. not really social though because there are essentially no halls.</p>
<p>Andrews: trips, quads, and quints... party dorm, tends to smell like beer and vomit on weekends</p>
<p>West: singles, dubs, and trips... more chill... more of a pre-game spot</p>
<p>East: similar to west in size, but substance free</p>
<p>Curtis: freshman and sophomores. I think its all doubles. Very small doubles. but its a new dorm. </p>
<p>Gatehouse... well, you guys have hit most of those points already.</p>
<p>Put your first choice down. Not doing so is dumb... lol... no offense to whoever wrote that, but there is no conspiracy where they don't give anyone their first choice. I got my first choice.</p>

<p>Any of the ones I mentioned above. Cutten and Bryan complex are generally for upperclassmen.</p>
