<p>Based on reviews from multiple sites, most freshman live in either North or Northwest, the all-freshmen buildings. Students joining Living Communities may be put into other buildings. Since I am joining the Community Service Learning Community, I will be living in Alumni/Eddy building. </p>

<p>If you already know which building you are living in, please post any reviews you have heard/read about your location. And if there are any students currently living at Storrs, please provide us with advice on living situations. Which dorms are desirable as a freshman, and when we become upperclassmen? Which dorms are just terrible, and we should avoid choosing? In general, please provide us with everything and anything we need to know about UConn housing.</p>

<p>GoldShadow, thank you for the link to your last year’s post. I am assuming nothing significant has changed about UConn housing. Like I said in my first post, I will be living in Alumni Quadrangle in the fall, would you please elaborate on why Alumni is a “pretty good/okay” dorm to live in? I don’t know if you have ever lived there, but it would be nice to hear the “scoop” on Alumni before I live there. What should I look forward to? And what will I dread when living there?</p>

Buckley and Shippee are right next to one another, so the following applies to both, for the most part.</p>

<p>I guess I should clarify, I believe I was referring to the dining hall and location when I said that it “sucks.” Since I made that post, Buckley’s dining hall has supposedly gotten better (I haven’t eaten there in a long time, though, so I can’t say personally whether this is true). It is pretty close to South dining hall though, which is where most people from Buckley and Shippee tend to eat anyway. As far as location goes, Buckley and Shippee are on the very edge of campus. They are relatively far away from the student union, library, co-op, and gym. They are also very far from most of the science/math/engineering buildings, but very close to the art and music buildings (which is what matters for somebody in the arts LC), and not far from a number of humanities buildings either. Another good thing is that they are right down the street from a number of restaurants and stores: Wings Over Storrs, Husky Pizza, Store 24 aka Tedeschi, Subway, and a little bit farther down the street: Domino’s, Friendly’s, Japanese and Thai places, Jack Rabbit’s (burgers and hot dogs), DP Dough.</p>

<p>The rooms in Buckley are decent. Compared to the rest of the dorms, I’d say they are below average, but not the worst.
The rooms in Shippee are amazing. Each double room has its own bathroom, which is convenient.</p>

I didn’t know freshmen could live in Alumni, so I guess this community service LC is a good deal for you! Alumni’s location is pretty good. It is right between South and McMahon dining halls, and not far from the center of campus. There are basketball and sand volleyball courts adjacent. The rooms are also pretty good. Not quite as good as the rooms in Northwest (the default freshman dorm), but much better than the ones in North (primarily freshmen and sophomores). Alumni is far from most classroom buildings, but it is close to the school of business, if you’re a business major. Besides that (distance from most classes), Alumni is an all-around good place to live.</p>
