Hey all,
I live in Turman North this year, and it's fine. Everyone always rags on us because we're "far away" but it's about a 3 minute walk from the DUC. Honestly people! It probably takes longer to walk to the DUC from Complex and Harris. We have the biggest rooms, coed floors, excersize rooms, kitchens, AND a pizza place/convenience store about 5 paces outside the dorm. We don't have sinks in our room or built in closets, but we DO have bathrooms right down the hall and ceiling high wardrobes.
Honestly, don't be worried about what dorm you get. They're all VERY similar, and you won't have a "different Emory experience" from being in one over another...I promise!
You guys can only choose from a single or double in Turman North/East, Trimble, McTyiere, Alabama, Longstreet, Means, Dobbs, Complex or Harris (I think I got them all). As for whether or not you should have a single or double, it's all up to personal preference. I live in a single, and wouldn't have it any other way! MOST people I know get along well with thier roommates (you get to pick them through webroomz), and unfortunately, some hate their roommates. It happens. If you like to go to bed early, sing to Frank Sinatra in your underpants, or keep your room at 50 degrees, I'd suggest a single. Don't be worried about not making friends if you don't have a roomie, I got along just fine. Freshman halls do alot of social activities together, especially during orientation, so you'll have no social problems to worry about.
That's all, folks!

Tenacious...where in Maryland are you from?

I live in Rockville. Its like 20 minutes from D.C. What about you?

Myersville, its a tiny town that no one has heard of, but the biggest nearby city is Frederick which is 15 minutes away and its about an hour from DC

I think I might have heard of it. Haha, the bustling metropolis known was Frederick. Half my teachers actually live in Frederick because everything is so much cheaper there. I think I might have gotten lost once and ended up in Myersville, actually.

wow i didn't know it was possible to get lost in myersville. Oh well, most people have only heard of it cuz the snipers were finally caught here.

No, I was going somewhere else and I ended up there. Yeah, thats how I reference my town! Because most of the shootings took place within a 15 mile radius. One was like 10 minutes away from me. Are you applying RD or ED?

The snipers were caught less then a mile from my house but luckily no one around here got shot. I applied RD and for scholars. I would have applied ED but I can't afford to go unless I get into the scholars program or get a good financial aid package, but emory is def my first choice and if my parents had let me i would have applied ED!
