Not a fan of this one. Dining hall is terrible and I just didn't like the rooms. Never lived here, so I don't have much to say.

Really don't like this one. IMO, it has a lot of the same qualities of Warren, but is worse in every aspect. Dining hall sucks. Mail room is terrible (though none of the mail rooms are very good). Rooms are a little larger than Warren's, but I don't like the look of them or the dorm as a whole. Didn't live here, but spent a bit of time in it.

Lived here for two years and loved it. Largest and best dining hall on the East Campus (granded that's not saying much). Don't really have to leave the building for anything--dining hall, mail room, computer lab and laundry are an elevator ride away and CamCo (Campus Convenience), two ATMs, Taco Bell/Pizza Hut and a copy center are within the building. Unfortunately, the Burger King across the street closed--so there isn't much in the way of late late night food. Also centrally located to a lot of things--right in front of CAS, next to COM, a block away from SED, SAR and SMG. Some rooms have great views (I had an awesome view overlooking the Charles River...I took pictures and made that my desktop background).

West Campus Complex 273, 275, 277 Babcock Street
I'm not a fan of West Campus, but that's just me--I admit that it's a great option for some people. Probably a great place to stay for your freshman year. Rooms are pretty good, dining hall is the best on campus and there's a TON of places to eat. My complaint about East campus is that there aren't too many late night places to eat--espeically pizza, there's no cheap pizza on East campus. West campus has a plethora of places to eat. BUT, the dorm is really far away, and you will dread 8 am classes. I prefered being closer to my classes.

Have fun and good luck.

incredible!...

thank you very much ryan!!!.....

i'm going to stay at boston just for 6 months, improving my english at the CELOP, and really i'm nervous and afraid but......that's ok....

For all that I have seen, I also prefer the Warren Towers, so I believe that I'm going to pay attention to you....

Also like a good Spanish I love the night life and party, so I believe that with 21 years and alone in boston ... I'm going to have fun... hahaha

Really really thank you for answering so soon and so well ..... you don't know the great favor that you do to me....

sorry for my english....

LOL from Spain...

greetings from Spain

No problem. Glad I was helpful. Hope you have fun!

Do you know about the guest policy, though?

I'm sure you'll enjoy Boston's nightlife...it's probably different from what you're used to (for instance, everything in Boston closes at 2 a.m. except for Club Rise, which is open until 7 a.m.), but there's a lot of choices. Plus, Lansdowne Street is a five minute walk from Warren Towers (Lansdowne Street has all of the clubs owned by the Lyons family, including Avalon, Axis, Embassy, I/D and the Modern) in addition to a few nice bars.

Have fun!

Yay!!

I just looked on the Student Link and I'll be in Shields Warren Tower on the 14th floor. That makes things so much easier...

2 a.m????????????????.........ohhh.....here in Spain we go out until 5 o 6 a.m, at leat in Madrid where I live....but, well....i'm going there to study and improve mi english......not for only have fun!!!!!! (that's what I used to say to my parents and finally i'm going to belive too) hahaha....

Ryan, how is the people there? i mean, in the residences, there are a lot of freshman? people like me, from diferent countries?....there are good vibrations between all the students?......i'm a normal universitary student here in spain.....but of course here the university facilities have anything in common with the big campus that you have there....

That's why i'm a little afraid.....

Star_Sail: You may be in luck...in C tower, depending on your room, you may have a nice view. I had A tower, which gave me a nice view of the Charles overlooking SMG.

Ros: Yes, 2 a.m., but you get used to it. That's just Boston--most other US cities go much later.

Warren Towers is almost all freshman with a bunch of sophomores. I had one random senior on my floor during my freshman year. I wouldn't be afraid--I'm sure that being in Boston will take a little getting used to, but staying in Warren will help out a lot. You develop a bit of a community with your floor as a freshman there. As long as you're reasonably friendly, you'll spend a lot of time with everyone. I still talk to almost everyone that lived on my floor freshman year. Boston is also a pretty friendly town (espeically compared to other cities). BU in particular is very very diverse, and I'm sure you'll settle in quickly and love the time you spend here.

I'm in the Premedical floor on the 16th floor of Warren B! SOOO excited. Ryanbis, have you heard anything about this particular floor?

Sorry...the only people I really knew in B-tower were on the Management floor (which is the sixth, I think). Since you're in B-tower, you get robbed in terms of views: you're either facing A tower or C tower, so you can't see much except other people's windows.

I was on 16A, which is one of the only floors with carpeted halls. Not that that meant anything to me, but a lot of people liked it.

are any floors in warren single sex or are they all co-ed?

I think there's one all-girls floor, but the rest are all co-ed. Girls are on one half of the floor and guys are on the other.

Hey all,

I just checked my dorm assignment and found out that i was in Warren B tower in a QUAD.....eeekkk.. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with a quad and how it turned out. Thanks!

I know someone who lived in a quad that went to hell and one of the roommates moved out (after being asked to). Being in a quad isn't a big deal for some people, some people it is--I wouldn't be able to do it, I like to be alone and have privacy sometimes.

Some people disagree with me, but I think that when you live in a quad you surrender certain "rights." For instance, I don't think you should expect to have absolute quiet unless it's late and you need to sleep. While I agree that you're studying is more important than your roommates' leisure activities (or whatever you want to call putzing around), if all three of your roommates want to watch a movie and you want to study, I think that it's common courtesy for you to walk downstairs and study in the lounge. The flipside is that the quiet person is always being excommunicated because the other roommates are bringing people over too often.

A lot of roommate conflicts stem from one person wanting privacy and quiet all the time. The other usually feels suffocated and as if they can't have a life because they can't brings friends over or listen to music when they want.

Hopefully you'll get a group of likeminded people. The good thing is that you'll have a group of people to do things with right away. Good luck.

Thanx for the quick reply...guess I really have no choice but to the hope for the best.... I checked facebook and found one of my roommates who seems at least on paper really "social" so I am not sure how my other two roommates are gonna be... I am pretty shy person by nature and like my quiet time at times so yikes... but thanx for the info and if anyone else has more to add please feel free! ;) By the way Im gonna go to sleep...its 2am now...passing out....zzzzzzzzzz

I've been assigned a room at West. Not too sure if i'm happy about that....
have an aversion to the cold, and if Boston isn't full of horror stories already... a long walk to early morning classes is not very comforting!

i am in the engineering floor at warren B. double occupancy room! can i expect any good views from the 9th floor of warren B, ryanbis?

No--since B tower is right in between A and C, all you'll see is the other tower facing you. Unless you're the peeping tom type, there's not much to see out your window.

hi....

so, the floor distribution depend on what you are doing or studying in BU?

Generally no. Most floors/dorms are co-ed and have a mix of people from any major. There are some floors and Bay State Road houses, however, that are called specialty floors/houses that you can apply to before room selection. For instance, Warren has a management floor, a communications floor, a writer's floor, etc. On Bay State Road, there's a Spanish house, Russian house, German house, Management house, Honors house, etc. If you did not apply to any of these places, then you'll be on a regular floor with a variety of people.

Since you are in Madrid you may want to check in with the BU students and staff at the BU Madrid program at the Institute. You can get the link and contact info/address on the main BU web site, look under International programs/study abroad and there is a section on Spain with info on the summer program. Hurry though since I think they are only there another week. There are about 25 kids from BU and a handfull with them from NE, Harvard, Tufts. Check it out. I'm sure they'd like some interaction with you as a Madrid guide.
