West Campus is a great place to live. Ask the folks who have lived there. My son (and most of his friends...all music majors) really liked it. It's the closest to the college of fine arts, and the new Agannis Arena. Most students agree that the West Campus dining hall is the best and nicest on campus. Those dorms have a "campus like" feel to them with lots of grass and trees on the back side (away from Commonwealth Ave). If you have an aversion to walking...there is always the T which you can ride one or two stops to nearer your classes. Many students buys T passes and if you do, this is one way you'll use the T.

That's a good point--it's a good place for CGS and SFA kids. If you have early classes on east campus, though, you will absolutely hate waiting for the T at 7:30 in the morning when it's 20 below. Mind you, half of west campus will be trying to get on that T with you.

The new bus that goes back and forth between the medical campus may be able to take you back and forth, though. If so, that should really alleviate the cold issue during wintertime.

Hi everyone! Just got my residence assignment and roommate as well. I will living in the South Campus - Core House. Any thoughts/ advice/ comments about this housing? Is it nice.. is it a brownstone? I read that its 10 min. from the center of campus - which is fine with me.. I don't mind walking.

To dogs,

thanks for your idea, surely I will see it and perhaps the fact of being guide can be well, moreover I could know BU students and maybe they can explain to me what I'm going to find, live and discover in Boston!!!......I didn't know that these intership programs existed, so, thanks for showing me this possibility.....

kisses to all from Madrid...

Somehow I ended up in a single suite in a south campus brownstone... I'm a freshman and this seems too good to be true... Is south campus annoyingly far from CAS and COM? Will I have a hard time establishing a social life while out of the tower residences? AND I once found this link that let you look at diagrams of all the room types. Does anyone remember what that link is? I really want to figure out what a suite looks like.

South campus is a bit of a walk from CAS and COM. It'll take you about ten minutes at a leisurely pace. Not a big deal until wintertime. You have to walk across the bridge near CVS and a block or two down Comm. Ave.

You'll be at a disadvantage, IMO, by not living in Warren, Towers or West, but that doesn't mean you'll be a hermit. I'm sure you'll be able to compensate.

Those are the closest links to what you described. The first is a bit old, I think--I don't think they update the Backdoor anymore. They have pictures of some rooms, but no diagrams. The second is from housing's website--they have diagrams for the large dorms only.

Honestly, I didn't realize they had suites on South (I'm assuming that you're talking about a dormitory style room). I had one in Shelton and it was terrible--I had a double connected to a triple. The bathroom was in my room, so the guys in the tripple had to come through my room to use the bathroom.

The only indication I received about a suite was a link that told me I have a "suitemate." I'm assuming that means I'll be living in a "suite," whatever that means. While I'm posting... Do you (anyone) know anything about the Philosiphy house specifically?

The Bu kids are at the International Institute of Spain, Miguel Angel 8, 28010 Madrid. The staff in charge is Elizabeth Lozama and Pilar Sandaz is Office Manager.011-34-91-319-1458

Call and see if you can stop over early this week and sit in on a class and meet some kids before it ends later this week. Since they are there to better practice the language and experience the culture you'll learn from each other and have a chance to meet some students befoe you get to Boston in September. The staff there may also be able to help you meet other Spanish students already at BU and as you know there is a Spanish House. I think its one of the nice brownstones on Bay Street Road at BU.

Good luck. Some of the kids may be staying on their own to travel a little more in Europe so they all won't be going back on Friday when classes end. Let us know how that works out.

There are international internships programs through BU all around the world including Spain. (see web site) The program I mentioned though is not the internship program but a Language Immersion program where BU students can go abroad for part of the summer or either/both semesters. The 6 week summer one allows students to complete 8 credits/their language rquirement. The actual Spain intern program may have a different schedule and those students may be there longer in the summer but the one I was referring to runs from about May 27-July 9.

Thank you very much for all the information, at the very moment you said to me I started looking where they were and discovered that they are just a few steps from my home was cool! so tomorrow I will go for a walk, if the damned heat allows me, and will approach to see how is life there, and the truth I am delighted with the idea of being able to know people that later I will see again in boston!

so, tomorrow I will let you know how that works out...

again, so sorry because of my english......I know it's horrible, but well, that's the main reason to travel to boston....improving it!...

LOL FROM MADRID!

ROS IN SPAIN

I think the classses go from about 9:30-2:30. Did you stop by and meet any BU students?

hi!!!!!!!!

I have been this morning there, and the truth is that I haven't seen any student of the university, but well, the persons who have attended me have been very nice and I've taken a very good impression.....

Dogs thank you very much for all your indications...really.....

kisses from spain...

Thats weird you didn't see any students. You'd think the staff would set it up so you could come back and meet the students when they are free. Did they recommend you come back at a certain point to be introduced to the students, maybe right before or right after their daily classes begin?

Hey all, I'm in the C Tower of Warren Towers on the 18th floor! I'm sooo f-ing excited. I've already talked to my roommate too. BTW, is the 18th floor the top floor?? And I heard that I might have a view of Fenway Park. Good luck with all of your rooms and roommates...go microfridge!

hi dogs!!!....

really they didn't talked to me anything about the classes and about the BU students, it was me the one who asked they about the programs and about the people there.....and they didn't explained me nothing about boston, and that's why I refused the idea of asked them if it was possible to participate in some classes and know some BU students.........they were so kind with me but I didn't saw any interest in them about my person and my reasons to study at boston university.....so....I went there to see some new companions and well....it's ok......at least I saw the mechanism and I get some information brochures......

Lol dogs from spain....bye bye.....
