Residency help

So I moved to another state to go to university. However, its beginning to feel like a horrible mistake for a number of reasons, choice of major being one. Im thinking of going back home to attend a university there.

I have lived here for 8 months and received aid and loans to go here. If I went back to my home state, would I still qualify as a resident of that state(and thus, instate tuition prices)? I have not applied for residency here yet.

Are you an undergrad student? Are you currently a college freshman? Are you under age 24?

We’re you attending a public university in this new state as an instate student…or as an out of state student?

In most cases as an undergrad, your state of residency for tuition purposes is the state in which your parents reside.

I am. I don’t remember if I put any of my parents info on my Fafsa but they do still live in the same city.

So Im ok?

ack actually I’m a college sophomore I believe, but I was paying out of state tuition so Im guessing I was out of state

Do I need all of those things? Or just some?

Cosmic…if you are an undergrad under age 24, are not married, not an orphan, not a ward of the state, not a veteran…you are required to put your parents information on the FAFSA.

I am guessing that you continue to be a resident of your parents’ state…UNLESS you somehow gained instate status at your current college.

Your FAFSA EFC was based on your parents’ info, so you must have used it.
