I got admitted to UCLA and got denied as a resident.
I was born in California and only left for four years between my 8th-11th grade year oversea to study, because of my mom's job. I came back for my senior year to finish off high school. My mom is also a US citizen. We have never lived in any other state but California. However, she is still living in China, but she pays her taxes and has bank accounts here. So doesn't that mean she is still a California Resident. She also has a california drivers license.
Should I appeal?

It doesn’t matter if you are a California resident or not, you have to physically live in California for the last year (365 days).

By the time the fall semester start, I will have lived in California for over a year. But my mom hasn’t and it says that since I am under 24 years old I have to go by my mom’s residency.
