residency question

I have quite a dilemma going for me here.

I'm an NC resident for now; however, my family is moving out-of-state in the fall. For the first year, I can enjoy in-state tuition at UNC, but because my family is moving, will I lose this benefit for the following years? If I do not move with them, is it possible for me to keep NC residency? What is the proper procedure if there is one? What if one parent stays and maintains residency (that would mean separate taxes, wouldn't it)? Does that still give me in-state status? I come from a low-income family, so I need all the money help (meaning in-state tuition) I can get.

Any answers/opinions that you may have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Get in touch with the registrar’s office. The chair of the Residence Status Committee sounds like a good bet.

I don’t know the specifics, but I’m sure they will do everything they can to help you out.
