I know it is hard, but what are the requirments for an out-of-state student to be re-classified for as an in-state student for tuition purposes (i.e.- ledd money). Would it be enough if the student changes driver's license and registers to vote in Florida, or does it really come down to whether parents, who live out of state, declar student as a dependant on their tax returns?

Go here then click on the links that explain what is a dependent student vs. a independent student for tuition purposes. It is all here.

I was an out of stater who had to go through this. I believe your parents HAVE to be here if you're under 21 or 24...I can't remember which one though. I know when I went to go claim residency, they didn't want anything of mine, they wanted all of my parent's info. Good luck!
