Residency status questions for LA

Hi, I am a 23 year old student who recently transferred to a college in Louisiana. I've been living here for 3 months and working here also. I have been living at my mothers house since I moved to Louisiana. She has been a resident of the state for over a year now, can I use this to change my residency status so I can pay in-state tuition? It would save me almost 2 grand per semester. I currently do not have a Louisiana drivers license or vehicle registration, not because I don't want to or am trying to cheat the system, but because I just can't afford it. Anyone who knows anything about this subject thank you for any help you can provide.

This is from LSU’s web site:

Hmm … if he’s 23, he’s still a dependent for FA purposes, and he’s living with his mother, who appears to meet the requirements. Wonder if that would help?

Probably worth a call to the college’s bursar’s office.
