Hello, I am curious is anyone else is encountering the same issue. When I applied to UF in November, I applied for in-state tuition even though I am out-of-state. According to s. 1009.21(1)(a), Florida Statutes, I can be considered an in-state student for tuition purposes: http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/pdf/residency.pdf and I sent in the required documentation. When I looked at my financial aid package, I noticed that my expected expenses was around $43,000 instead of the expect $21,000 for in-state. So, I called admissions (they handle residency status) and was told that they hadn’t reviewed that yet and the documentation I sent in had only been logged. I was then told that it may take a few weeks (like 3) before it will be reviewed. I would just like to confirm that this information is accurate because when I applied to USF, I was told within a week and I believe before I was even accepted that I was considered for in-state tuition. I understand USF has different processes than UF but I just find it strange that it takes so long to review residency status seeing as it is not that much documentation to look over. Thank you in advance for any help.
Another thing I was wondering about… I am in the same situation, I moved to Florida over a year ago, since my wifes family lives here, so I would hope that I get in-state, whereas I don’t bank on it, at least for Fall…
I also already got my residency for USF but not for UF…
I wouldn’t worry about it, since UF is “different” in a lot of admission decisions than other universities… If they said it will be like that, I will just believe it and review it in a vew weeks.
(I haven’t heard anything from UF about residency either)
I checked this morning and they changed my cost of attendance to in-state so I guess they reviewed it yesterday.
Call, call, call…UF is one giant (slow) Bureaucracy. USF and UF use the same criteria, if you qualify at USF, you should at UF.
