Residency?

I'm applying for UCLA and I'm currently out of state. However, my dad is still applicable for California residency since he is in the military and on active duty. For UCLA, there is a form which I must fill out to prove my residency.

My question is this: will filling out that form qualify me to be considered a California student when the students are picked out? Or will it just matter for tuition purposes? Thanks.

If a military parent's legal residency is in a particular state, the dependents are considered 'instate'.
