If you start UNC as an in-state and your parents move out of state is there any way you can become a state resident on your own for purposes of tuition and graduate school? If you have an apartment and a NC drivers license and voters registration?

idk, i’d call the admissions office if I were you

You might want to check out the information here:

[Residency | Office of the University Registrar](http://regweb.oit.unc.edu/residency/index.php)

At least with regard to undergraduate school, you residency is presumed to be same as your parents. You might be able to overcome the presumption if you can show that you are self-supporting and not reliant on your parents for financial support, and have independently established residence in North Carolina.

I would note that should your parents leave the state, you would have an obligation to advise the university and seek a redetermination of your residency status. The failure to do you could subject you to disciplinary action.
