Does anyone know which Resident Halls are newer and closer to campus?
@##2022mom As far as newer halls go, look at North Campus. Busch House, Scott, Bowen. Closer to campus really doesn’t apply. It really depends on your major. Most of the freshman classes, however aren’t too far from the oval. My daughter is a junior and lived in Morrill Tower as part of a Scholars program. It’s a little far, but she loved it. Nice and close to the stadium and the RPAC. She lived in Busch as a sophomore. It’s new and close to High Street, but the doubles are a tad small.
Can any current student or parent advise if Taylor has been refurbished in the last 1-2 years? Are the current pictures on the OSU housing site accurate or old? Thanks!!
You’re a 2022 parent. Without having your child in Scholars, honors or a learning, you will not get to choose your hall, only the room rate and area of campus, and even then the area is a preference. Second years get to choose a specific building during the lottery, freshmen are assigned a dorm that fits as closely as possible with their preferences (area, code, roommate choice).
The pictures online were all put up last year, so they should be an accurate representation of the rooms.
@bucks724 Thanks. I was actually inquiring because my son is accepted to Honors and it’s a dorm for one of the learning communities he’s interested in…hence the specific question on Taylor. Thanks again.
@Meant2B, I was replying to 2022parent first (asking about specific halls closer to campus), and the answered your question about pictures online as well. Congrats on your son’s acceptance (and acceptance into Honors!).
But yes, the 360s were put up last summer just before classes started, so the representations of Taylor are accurate (and if you’re like me and hate the curtains, just know you can cover but not remove them - I guess they’re fireproof and have to be there - haha!).
Thanks @bucks724 Thanks for the yellow curtain comment made me chuckle!
Any current students or parents have feedback about the First Year Collegian LLC? Is there a big time commitment for someone in the Honors program? Thanks!
I lived in Taylor Tower in 1986 (room 565), and I just looked at the 360 pics online, and it looks exactly the same. Wow. Except we had to bring our own fridge and microwave then. However, the advantage to this dorm is separate bedroom from living area, private bath, and proximity to classes for those students who are science and engineering majors.
