Resident Honors Program?

Guys, really, I’d avoid details as much as possible. MANY people read this board, and I just think it’s a bad idea to have so much personally identifiable information readily available.

Okay, victoriaheidi. Will keep that in mind.

Applications due this week! Holy cats…

I don’t think I will apply, I thought about it but I visited USC and wasn’t too impressed, at least compared to UCLA. I’ll wait for my senior year to apply for college.

Hey guys!
I applied for RHP too. I was wondering if anyone knows when we’ll hear back from them. I probably won’t go unless I get at least a half scholarship. Do you guys think I have a chance? Here are my stats:

So that’s the basic gist of it. My essays were ok I think. Maybe a little bland. But if I could get some feedback that’d be great. Thanks so much for taking the time!

cren, with those amazing PSAT scores you should be a National Merit Finalist. If so, you automatically get 1/2 tuition Presidential scholarship to USC. However, for RHP, your NMF won’t come through until next year, meaning your first year at USC RHP will not get the automatic Presidential. Still–all RHP get the Dean’s scholarship, I think, so the worst you would do is get 1/4 tuition the first year, and 1/2 tuition the last 3 years. OTOH, your school record is really really great. You could very well be invited for the top merit awards. However, as with every applicant, it may depend somewhat on your major.

That takes in the major merit scholarships, there are other smaller awards for each department/major, and USC can be very generous with Financial Aid for those with very low EFC.

Best of luck.

Frankly, cren, your stats are so good they’re scaring me. :)

Mine drastically pale in comparison. Looking at yours, I don’t think I stand a chance.

SAT: 2200-2300 (will not post actual scores, just the general area they lie within)
SAT 2s: 750-800 range for both Math 2 and Chem

GPA: above 3.9 unweighted (school doesn’t weight)

A few AP/honors classes

ECs: Figure skating, dance and stuff
Community service clubs
Forensics

Applying to CLAS (Dornslife)

I go to a fairly competitive school in CA. I think one of my essays is great and the others just okay. My recs are from teachers who seem to like me a lot (or at least I hope :]) and the school counselor, who doesn’t know me that well because my school is big but is amused by my desire to write a book.

Cren, where are you from and what major are you applying to?

I’m applying as a biology major. I was just curious if anyone has received a phone interview yet. I’m getting nervous. Doesn’t the first wave of letters with merit scholarships arrive soon? I haven’t gotten a phone interview yet

Anyone receive their acceptances at RHP yet?

Nope. Very nervous and a little bummed.
Has anyone gotten anything at all? (aside from the fin. aid postcard)

Are they doing interviews this year?

Have no idea…hey, where are you from?

East coast

Have you had the mandatory interview yet?

I’m from NorCal, so I flew down there one weekend and scheduled an interview. I didn’t think I could have stood a phone interview, hence my trip. I was really hoping for a big scholarship, but eh…sadface.

I compulsively check this site every day, and now I’m regretting that because everyone’s getting mail and I haven’t gotten anything. What about you?

I have not got an interview yet like cren or have the USC explore under my admission tab. Maybe rhp is on a different schedule?

I hope that’s the case…some RHP students in the past have gotten stuff in late Jan. along with the regular students though…which makes me worried.

Or all the interviews for the big scholarships have not been sent out to everyone. I was just reading in this forum that they send it in waves.

That would be cool. THERE’S STILL HOPE!
What major are you applying to?

Anyone from rhp receive anything yet?
