Resident Honors Program?

Nope. atxnickg, feedback, Laurier…did you guys get anything?

Anyone out there?

Have any of y’all gotten the you’re-not-considered-for-one-of-the-big-scholarships-but-will-get-an-admitted/rejected-letter-soon letter yet?

I got that letter about 2 days ago in AZ

Hey other RHP hopefuls, anything yet?

When my D applied a few years ago, she called the RHP office to find out their time line.
They are more than happy to discuss the time line or answer any questions you may have. They even gave me the email address of another parent whose student was enrolled in RHP to communicate back and forth to make the final decision about enrolling. I think it is a difficult choice for all families to make since students do not complete their senior year of high school. My D greatly enjoyed freshman year of RHP, the Thematic Option program and after freshman year was integrated with her peers into her USC entering class. She was awarded a Dean’s scholarship and a departmental scholarship for a high GPA after two years in the dept.

@sheilachian referred me to this thread from another one. Thanks! I was posting in stuff that was at least a year old :stuck_out_tongue: I’m from Ohio and told USC (via the commonapp) that I wanted to double major in neuroscience and creative writing. Neuroscience is an undergrad that very, very, very few schools offer and is a great boost to med., while a think the creative writing allows for a duality into the more artistic side of myself (I’ve written a couple screenplays and a literary archaeology report). I’m new to college confidential, but I was just wondering about when should I hear from RHP? (I know that USC’s “official” date is April 1, but I was looking at the RHP app online and it seems like they usually respond earlier: anytime between mid-February until late March depending on your merit scholarship ability and credentials) I’ve also heard that it’s a rolling admissions process based primarily on essays/teacher recommendations/SAT and ACT scores. Is that true? My ACT was a 32 my first time, SAT 2150, so I didn’t have super amazing test scores (in fact barely the minimum), but I have almost 30 extracurriculars, will that set me apart enough? Thanks so much! Especially to sheilachian for redirecting me here!

Son almost applied to RHP 2 years ago, even met the AO in the RHP office during campus visit. However, he decided against it at the last minute in order to participate in his HS graduation. His EC list improved even more the past year, making him an even stronger candidate. We are now in Explore USC. Son interviewing for presidential scholarship. We’re enjoying and loving what we see so far. Fight On!!!

Didn’t make it in. Oh well. I’m still applying to USC next year though. Good luck to you all!

@scheilachian :’( I hope your senior year is amazing! still haven’t heard anything… I can feel a rejection letter coming though :/

@sheilachian How and when did you find out? Are they already sending rejection letters?

@CorporateExpress Mine was dated March 1. I got the RHP rejection letter yesterday, March 3, in the mail.

@kcj2196 Thanks. And don’t be so pessimistic. You have a good shot at getting accepted.

To everyone: Good luck! Honestly, I’m going to miss you guys. :frowning: It’s been great talking to everyone on this thread. Stop assuming you’ll get a rejection letter unless you’re holding one in your hands (and if you are, then PM me and we can figure out how to burn them together XD). I will definitely be applying to USC next year, and if I manage to get in then I hope to see some of you guys around. :)

Just got my rejection letter… :frowning: looks like one more year here in high school… :/

sheila and kcj,
Do you think they posted acceptances for RHP as well or they will be posted on 27th with RDs?

these RHP rejections are in waves or sent on one single date to all?

For me, I got my RHP acceptance today! So it’s being sent out now. Good luck to you all!
(I’ll post stats in the stats thread.)

qazwsx988 - what is the zip code on the envelope , i mean it came through USC admissions or RHP office ?

Does RHP sends similar acceptance package or its different than USC regular admission packet ? what exactly is the process of admission , USC admissions decides first or the Major one chooses to do SCHOOL or the RHP office …or all three decide together !

Just got my acceptance letter on March 27. I received a big USC acceptance packet first, then a smaller RHP acceptance packet later. Just for future applicants…my stats were nowhere near as impressive as some others above, but I have a lot of extracurriculars and leadership experience, as well as good recommendations. GPA is not all that matters! Good luck!

Yeah, just like unexpected12, I recieved a big, regular decision envelope, then a smaller, thinner envelope with an RHP acceptance. Now to wait for financial aid. Congratulations to all that got in, hope to see you there this August!

Has anyone faced this situation? Accepted by RHP and rejected by university? Should one Apeal for admission then? ???
