residential and miscellaneous questions from an incoming CoE student.

hi,

i was wondering, does the housing staff at U M generally let you room with whoever you choose and wherever you want? if i apply at the first opportunity of course.

and,
do i have to live on campus as a freshman?

and is there wireless internet/cable internet/TV free in U M residence halls? i heard there wasn't..

thanks

I highly recommend living on campus your freshman year. Its just a good experience. Move out 2nd year though because its cheaper to live off campus.

Free wireless and cable internet. You can pay for free cable for i think 50$ or so.

When you’re applying for housing, you can pick the location you want and your application is put into a lottery (so when you apply doesn’t matter, as long as its before the deadline). However, if you put down a roommate, its highly likely that you’ll end up on North Campus.

I think they’re putting more Freshmen in Mojo because they’re supposed to be redoing Markley, so yeah don’t request a roommate because you’ll get put on North which is the worst place to live. Although I do know a couple people here in Markley that requested their roommate and somehow are on central too.

North is not the worst… I will stand by that

Also, some dorm rooms do not have wireless internet… so watch out for that

They are not redoing Markley. Alice Lloyd is closed for renovation in 11-12. I heard it is East Quad for 12-13.
