Residential colleges

Just wondering which colleges you would want to be in. For me, I'll take anything except for Ezra Stiles and Morse...

Branford...or Pierson???

you don't want Ezra Stiles and Morse cuz...they're sorta ugly. Calhoun isn't getting renovated. Silliman and Timothy Dwight deprive you of the Old Campus experience.

edm, what colleges are generally considered the best in terms of suite size and configuration?

They're all winners in my eyes. . . ;-P

ahem, Mr. edmYale09, Stiles and Morse have attractive qualities once you get to know them! See- I used to think they were ugly but while visiting them this summer, I realized that while sort of odd just thought of individually, the way they meld into Yale and into New Haven is rather impressive. And who likes right angles anyway?

oh...I should mention that my dad was in Stiles, so there's definitely a chance I'm going to check the "Stiles? Yes please!" box...

Aesthetically speaking, I like Jonathan Edwards based solely on its shield. The green tiger thing is snazzy.

If I get put in Jonothan Edwards I'm going to spend all day screaming "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God."

Jonathan Edwards is awesome. We have really fun traditions and a lot of school spirit...and the people are great! Plus, we're getting renovated in my junior year, when you guys are sophomores, so you get great freshman housing, then swing space (which is like a hotel) then move into a newly renovated college. so hope to get into JE

When do we get our housing assignments, email addresses, etc?

Over the summer...

What??? But I want to know NOW!!!

I personally wouldn't like Morse or Ezra Stiles because they're over sorta not near the other colleges. the facilities apparently suck. the singles are nice, i guess, but i can't see myself living without my suitemates. and the 90 degree thing is overrated. there are 90 degrees. i heard the lack of 90 degrees makes furniture, etc. awkward.
JE really needs the renovation. i heard JE soph housing sucks. in fact, JE SUX! (harhar)
also- you kids have really long time to wait for netIDs, e-mail addresses, and college assignments. we were dying to find out. but before the colleges, you'll have to fill out those housing forms. oh, the wait, and you thought it was over!

Old campus is overrated. I lived in Silliman and loved it! You get to know all of the upperclassmen and the community bond is so much stronger. College spirit is also way stronger in TD and Silliman.

My friends who lived on the OC liked it, but said when they moved into their own colleges, it kinda sucked they didn't really know anyone.

Plus, you don't really miss out on all that much. Everybody thinks that the OC is party central, but it really isn't. There are maybe at most only a few nights a year that the OC has anything truly interesting going on. And on those nights, you can always go to the OC, party, and come back to your home in Silliman or TD. It's always nice to know you have your nice colleges to go back to.

If i were to do it all again, I would choose NOT to love on OC.

the OC is awesome. you can hear Harkness everyday. you walk past the statues of those sexy men. esp. Abraham Pierson. you have all the freshmen right there around you. i love the OC. when you think of those panoramic shots of Yale, you think of the OC.

the OC is awesome. you can hear Harkness everyday. you walk past the statues of those sexy men. esp. Abraham Pierson. you have all the freshmen right there around you. you all are going through the same stuff. i love the OC. when you think of those panoramic shots of Yale, you think of the OC.

Hmm...I don't know a lot about all the residential colleges yet, but my friend's in Saybrook and is having a great time. I'd love to be on the OC though.

And Gorbachev_Sez, I would totally be out there with you. Heeee.

yay Saybrugians. they get to share Lanman-Wright with the Piersonites. yay L-Dub, smallest frosh housing on the OC. (i'm in the smallest suite in the smallest dorm, isn't that awesome?)

you'll like whatever college ur assigned to. I know you think living in morse or stiles will be the end of the world and that living on OC is such a big deal, but it really isn't. All of you '10ers think u know what ur talking about u discuss the colleges you want to be in, but u really don't. You may have gotten into yale, but you still don't know how life really is like until you get there.

Honestly, if you start thinking, "Oh, i really want to be in <insert college="" name=""> or oh, i don't want to be in <insert college="" name="">", you're just going to either 1) be really upset if you don't get put into what your "dream" college is or 2) you get put in your "dream" college and end up realizing it isn't all you thought it was. </insert></insert>

All of the colleges are great in their own way. STOP THINKING that one is superior to the other...especially since you are basing most of your assumptions on the "looks" of the college. The people inside them matter infinately more...trust me.

POINT BEING, just chill out and enjoy the rest of your senior year. You'll love whatever college ur in and you'll love yale.

I'm just ecstatic because I into Yale. Hell, I'll sleep on the sidewalk if they'll just let me go to class and EC's. But only if I can bring my sleeping bag. That's where I draw the line. You've just got to have standards.
