Residential Housing Wait list at NJIT - how long??

My son, the smartest kid I know, got kicked out of NJIT’s honors program and dorm because he messed up with two courses (easy basic ones) and received a grade of Incomplete on one and F on another his freshman year. His GPA dropped to below a 2.0 and he got the boot. He just didn’t transition very well and didn’t know what expectations were for him in college. I guess.

Problem now is that, aside from ME finding this out last week, he has no on-campus housing. Tried to register for residential housing at any of the non-honors dorms, but their system had a snafu with him (because he previously registered for the honors dorm before he realized he was kicked out). School was too busy to investigate, so when I drop him off on Tuesday we will visit the housing people and get at least that straightened out. They wouldn’t tell him over the phone what the wait list is like or what his expectations are this semester for getting a room.

Does anyone have any knowledge, experience, or stories regarding NJIT’s dorm wait list?

My typo, his GPA dropped to below 3.2, it was 3.165 to be precise. He pulled his grades up this semester so now he’s 3.2+ and is attempting to reapply to the honors program. The school didn’t get him into a dorm in the fall, and it’s looking like he won’t get into a dorm in the spring either, despite the residential housing people telling him in the fall that he has a “very good chance” for springtime. I think his only hope is getting back into honors, where he’s maybe more likely to get a room. Who knows?
