Residential Learning Community

Can anyone explain me more about it?
Should I go to a Learning community?
Can you have a triple/quad room in a Learning Community?
Helpppp

The residential learning communities are housed in the red brick dorms of Maya and Olmeca. The only students that got triples this year where the Honors college students in Maya. My son is in Olmeca with a double and his RLC is Emerging leaders (not his first choice, actually last choice) but he has made alot of friends on his floor since 1st semester you are required to take a Pass/No Pass class focused on Leadership. RLC’s offer a great opportunity for students with like interests to be housed together and it has been a positive experience for my son. On the housing application last year, quads were not an available option so it is highly unlikely they will be offerred this year. The suite style dorms may have up to 9 students living in the same suite but no more than 3 per room. Zura Hall has been recently rennovated and expected to reopen for in-coming Fall semester Freshman in July. I am not sure if the room configurations have changed but they were also doubles and some triples prior to rennovation. You are not allowed to pick which dorms you want, you can only specify double/triple, no RLC or RLC’s. I would definitely consider an RLC and will also help with you with the transition to college and to make the most out of your first year at SDSU.

Thank you!!! @Gumbymom That really helped, I think I’m going to go to a RLC. Just another question, if I they put me in a double room in a suite does it cost the same as a normal double room?

Housing costs are the same for all Freshman dorms. Apartments have a different price rate.
