Residential Programs

To current students, is there any particular house that you would recommend for a freshman? Also, would you recommend doing one of the residential programs and, if so, any programs in particular?

Thanks ahead of time!

Harrison College House - Freshman Experience Residential Program.

What is Fresh Ex? Basically it’s a residential program whose sole purpose is to spoil freshman with events, trips, and TONS of free food.

all college houses will offer you free food, events and trips. Go for the highrises. You’ll get points for better rooms next year, privacy, good bathrooms, etc.

If you want to socialize, just don’t spend all your time in your room!

personal recommendation: harnwell

Any thoughts on the residential programs Exploring Philadelphia at Hill, Freshman Leadership at Penn, Law & Society at Fisher, Modern Languages Program in Gregory, and Penn Women in Leadership in Ware?

Also, I forgot to ask this in my original question, but what generally are a person’s chances of getting accepted to a residential program if they apply?

bump bump bump

why Harnwell? most of the good things I hear about the high rises come from Harrison

Harnwell has good elevators. But, Harrison will finishing renovating its elevators by the end of this summer, so things should be much better in the fall. And our cafe is pretty awesome (I live in Harrison, so I’m slightly biased ;))

it seemed like the people in Harrison like it - the people giving the tour were friendly and the house master who spoke seemed interesting

I was there for some of the room visits! Our House Dean is pretty cool, nice guy (lives on my floor), and his dog is adorable (his name is Elvis).

wow, FightingQuaker - maybe we met - I saw Elvis too- Harrison seems like a perfect place
