Is getting a Resign(R) on your Transcript really that bad. I mean I plan to go to grad school as well as become an engineer. all the ad visor tell me different things, I have till 11PM what do you guys say.

what the heck is a 'Resign'?

Resignation

But what does that MEAN? Is it like a withdrawal? A resignation is typically something you hand in when you quit a job, not anything to do with classes... If it is like a Withdraw (W), then there are plenty of threads regarding that already.

larationalist,

I'm going to go out on a very easy limb here and assume (I know, simply scandalous!) that a "resign" is a "W."

One W usually is not enough to kill you.

Yes, like I posted on the other thread, 1 "W" isn't going to kill you. What year are you in? I'll be applying to grad school in a year to pursue my MAcc; if 1 "W" kills someones chances...I'll let you know, because they'll see 1 from this semester. But, I doubt it will be your demise. Your major/overall GPA are much more important. If you have 1 "W" and a 2.5 GPA, you can't blame it on the "W". If you have a 3.88 GPA and 1 "W" and you don't get into a pretty good program...then you might be able to question it, but there's NO WAY that's going to happen.

1 "W" is okay.
Seriously.
EVERYONE I've talked to about it, including people that have directly talked to the head of their program (kids applying to dental school), said 1 "W" isn't going to kill your chances. There were kids in grad school I've talked to that had a 5 "W's" and still got into a good program.

Like I've repeated many times, I have a couple of drop notations on my transcript, and I haven't seen it really affect me too negatively.

^agreed. You should listen to him. Graduate committees aren't going to chastise someone with 1 "W". They are people, too, and realize sometimes people need to withdrawal from classes.

For me, I had to pick up another job to help out my family...if they hold it against me, it's their loss.
