University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is my number 1 choice.
I'm just afraid that they won't accept too many people out of state (I live in Ohio). My application was sent in on the 12th of November and my transcript was sent on the 5th; however, the website has yet to say that my application is completed. I'm SOOO UPSET!
Do you think that I have a chance to get in with:

3.4 w GPA (dunno the unweighted, but its not that big of a difference)
African American
Really good extra curriculars (trust me)
26 ACT, 650 MATH, 510 VERB. (will be retaking all of these tests in October)
3 AP classes: Spanish, Biology, and Statistics (currently taking)
3 Honors classes: Physics, World History, and English (all already taken)
LEAD program at Duke University (University of Illinois is also a host school for this selective program)
Ohio Business Week (elected the CEO) and Ashland University Scholar

As to your application being complete, you say you sent your transcript and application, but did you also send your test scores? You need all three to have a complete app. Also, I am somewhat confused by your post -- you give test scores and then say you will be "retaking ... in October" but your post is from yesterday, November 25. Do you mean December?

Fact that you are out-of-state will not hurt you as in-state, out-of-state are evaluated on same basis. Being a URM will help as a favorable factor considered.

Class rank and test score are the two main factors for admission and you do not give class rank. What is usually needed depends on particular college and major. Here are the middle 50% ranges from 2005 for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering:

LAS: ACT 26 - 30, SAT 1200 - 1390, Class Rank 81% - 95%
ENG: ACT 29 - 32, SAT 1300 - 1450, Class rank 85% - 97%

Biochemistry is in LAS but the 50% range for that college can be somewhat deceptive because the science and math departments in LAS tend to have higher ranges than other departments and lean somewhat closer to those needed for engineering. Your ACT score is in the 50% range for LAS but low for engineering and thus it is probably somewhat low for biochemistry (although not so low that you do not have a chance). Having the AP and honors courses will help, as will EC's. You will need to have a good essay (they are most important for borderline candidates). Based on what you provided, you should assume UIUC is a reach but still worth the try.

Don't worry too much about the application being complete right now. I sent mine in on the 14th and it still says that the app is not complete. Plus, on the website it says that during the heavy review months it might take a while for your documents to be processed.

sorry! I recopied my stats from an early entry (from like August), but they got my test scores from June SAT/ACT and October ACT. Also, I'm not trying to go to UIUC for engineering... only Purdue. Another problem is that my school doesn't rank... I think that this delays me even further.

Well in my opinion, and I'm not being all red-neck or anything here, just realistic... Since you are AFrican-American and U. of I. (last I heard) does do affirmative action, maybe your grades and stuff will be outweighed by your ethnicity. Just being truthful. Also just to let you guys know, I called the admissions office and they said they will not be sending out anymore acceptances until next year. Guessing they want to go for a long holiday.
